My children like it here, as do I. From a parents perspective, I enjoy that the teachers a very attentive to answering questions and concerns. I send quite a few emails and I always get a clear quick response! Also, I think it's great that they are keeping up with teaching the children about modern technology so that they are proficient by the time they reach middle school.
My son attended St. Thomas for two years before we pulled him out. I discovered 50% of the kids he came in with are gone. This is why the school has to continue to generate new business by using facebook, mailing out postcards, and whatever means necessary to lure in families. They would be out of business if they didn't do this with the number of families withdrawing.
St. Thomas More Parish school is the reason why we will no longer pursue a parochial school. The admission lady must have a true gift to do her duty to accept troubled youths and not be totally up front about how they are a whole grade level ahead with their curriculum and different from their homeroom. You will only hear from the Spanish and Music teachers. And the teachers do not post on line like it was mentioned, the teachers and administration and parents who flaunt their money have the real power of the school. They have a absent involved principal with a over worked dean of students and a really delusional part time counselor. This school would be good for students up to the 4th grade. Other are at your own risk.
this is our first year in,and all i can say is WOW...am happy i finally found a school that met all my needs, spiritual, academic plus more
As a parent, I really appreciate St. Thomas More Parish's attentive and caring staff. Whenever I contact them they're always available and understanding of any concerns my son or I have. I am a room parent and can tell firsthand just how much these kids love the family environment St. Thomas More creates.
Some teachers post my daughters grades online which i find really convenient. The music teacher and math teacher do a great job at it. If you are concerned about your child's progress usually it is not a problem to send the teacher an email to ask for help and they are very responsive. I find the school to do a good job at keeping up to date with the latest technologies and educational tools. I especially like how the school academically is pretty rigorous, and you can't beat the location because we only live about 2 miles from the school.
I heard from the parent wait area that some families are withdrawaling their children about some the teachers and the way the administration handles the day to day operations.
My kids have attended STM since the third grade. I love this school. The teachers are great, the parents are great, and the students really get along. STM is serious about educating kids. I have found that the administrators and teachers work closely with parents to give the kids the very best academic, spiritual, and social experience. The teachers are approachable and always ready to help. If you do your part, and let the school do their part, it will always work out. STM truly prepares the children for life. I will always be a proud STM parent!
The amount of communication between the schools staff and parents is sufficient. The class sizes are small and I feel that the amount of homework given to my child is reasonable. The best part about this Catholic School is the broad range of activities that are provided. From music to sports, even student government, they do a great job at providing a variety for the students here.
I just love the other families here, and that as my children are graduating and moving on and a lot of new families are joining. There is a sense of camaraderie with the families here in the school. They're a great school academically as well. When we first started at the school, they had a 99% rate of their students getting into their first pick for High School.
I find that the level of difficulty and the amount of homework given to my children from St. Thomas More is very reasonable. As for the environment goes it has a very safe feeling to it, and the staff is attentive and makes themselves available when you contact them.
STM is a very good school. I believe it could be even better if the teachers were given more resources and updated materials. The age norm of the teachers is a little old so new teachers with fresh ideas would be an added plus.
The teachers in the pre-school don't teach the students anything. The school is not worth attending. Overpriced babysitting with instructors who dislike children.
This school gives an impression of being a great school but that is not the reality. The teachers are not compassionate or understanding and don't seem to be willing to devote the attention and patience that some children need in order to thrive. The mindset seems to be that they are irritated or simply do not want to deal with their students. They are also tactless in the way they speak to parents about their students. Overall, I was disappointed in the staff and administration...not worth the price of tuition!
Horrible. No one cares about the students or the parents. I will never recommend this school.
My kids really hated this school. We could never figure out exactly why. But I can say that the principal is really unfriendly and perhaps this lack of human warmth descends to the faculty. There are a lot of rules - no talking during lunch, for example - that are inconsistently but sometimes angrily enforced. My unhappy child was skipping out of class for weeks and we were never told. The staff is really overwhelmed with 600 students, and, at the same time, not too concerned about any one of them, as there will always be new students flowing in from the horrible public schools nearby. The religious instruction is very uneven. One instructor was superb, the other showed little knowledge of the Catholic faith and often turned over the class to a student while she did something else. A number of parish families have pulled their kids out and homeschooled them or taken them to other Catholic schools.
Saint Thomas Moore is by far above average. I went here and now my daughter goes here. It seems like a second home and it is very comfortable here. I like the morals and the teachers here. I support their values and it has a nice community feel to it.
What I like the most about this school is that its Catholic. That is the #1 reason and it provides a wonderful curriculum and has done well in preparing my kids for high school and even college.
This is truly a great school! I feel that the teaching staff goes above and beyond to make sure my child understands something that he is not getting. They take the time to do that and they are easy to communicate with and always let you know how things are going with your child.
This is a great school. I recommend this school to all parents. They do a great job of following the curriculum.
