I have 3 children and we have been a part of this awesome school for 7 years, we love the learning atmosphere, the daily religion and the manners of all the children. This school has such a warm environment which is what I want for my children. The value for the awesome education they are receiving is incredible!
The teachers are very dedicated and caring. The academics are strong and the school teaches excellent social/mannerism skills.
My child attended this school for 9 weeks. The child was 4 at the. It was a horrible experience! I received phone calls telling me, although my child had "normal" 4 year old behavior, it was just "too much" for them. First it was a short visit to the office, then a long visit to the office, then a half of a day to the office (for not wanting to be in mass!) and then my child was sent home (3 times)! The teacher and assistant principal kept telling me that my child was not the only one receiving this treatment and that it was a "challenging" class/year. I offered to come help (whenever they knew the teacher would be at a meeting, which occurred at least once a week) when I found they had lost another 4 year old when out on the playground because the teacher was in a meeting and the teaching assistant had to watch 18 children by herself. The principal told me that "it has always worked this way in the past" and that they did not need my help. Needless to say, we pulled our child out of that school!
great school, but it does not go through 11th grade..it stops at 8th grade!!!
This is an excellent school that exposes its students to a great education (National Blue Ribbon of Excellence); extracurricular activities including sports, science and others; good morals and teaches them how to become good citizens with the humanitarian work. John Paul II is an all around school.
John Paul II Catholic School was recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in 2007 (for the 2nd time).
I graduated from Jp2 a couple of year ago, and am now in high school. I am very prepared compared to many of the other students in my classes. JP2 is not a demanding school, yet you are so advanced when compared to other private schools in the area. The school has declined a bit since Mrs. Haney left, but the teachers are fantastic in all areas: Theology, math, science, and especially english. English classes at JP2 are so much more advanced in terms of writing and literature analysis, prepraing me very well for high school. The school provides many extracirricular activities. Led by Mr. Griffin, I would venture to say that JP2 has, by far, the best middle school band in the city of Houston, and a better band than some highschools. I disagree with the 9/28/07 post. Middle school Theology with Mrs. Hartfiel is amazing--she should be the principal.
This school is amazing. It prepare its students for the future (often with merit scholarships to private schools); it also provides a challenging Catholic curriculum. Teachers are dedicated! areadedicexperienceed in
This school supposedly accepts students of all faiths, yet they make you feel like an outsider if you aren't Catholic. The school will hire ANYONE. If you are not Catholic and want a good education for you child, this school is NOT for you.
This is an awesome school. My daughter loves it there. It gives the children good moral values plus a great education. They have sports, drama, choir, art, etc. The parents are very involved.
