I attended Yorkshire Academy through 5th grade and even in my third year of college, I still love talking about my elementary school days. The nurturing nature of the classrooms, the diverse student population, and the extracurriculars are unmatched. Yorkshire manages to provide challenging academics and to ensure every child cultivates their music, foreign language, computer, p.e. and art skills. When I moved to public school, I missed this combination Yorkshire does so well. If I live in the Houston area when I have children, I will send them to Yorkshire in a heartbeat. I still feel at home when I visit the school and highly recommend Yorkshire Academy. It is a special place.

We have 3 children at Yorkshire Academy, two in 5th and one in 3rd. All 3 started in MDO. The classes are small, academically challenging and foster a nurturing environment. The enrichment classes as well as the afterschool classes have offered our kids the opportunity to express themselves. We have found it to be the perfect balance of academics and enrichment. The teachers are fantastic and Yorkshire has a very involved parent volunteer community. My 5th graders will be moving on to middle school next year and we feel they will be well prepared. My children love going to school every day.

I attended Yorkshire through 5th grade, and it made such an impression that now, as a graduate student, I am compelled to go back and write a review. Sure, other schools are challenging academically, or have interesting extracurriculars, but what sets Yorkshire apart is the ever-present sense of belonging and even family. Coupled with the aforementioned rigor and enrichment, Yorkshire provides a nearly ideal foundation, as well promotes the confidence necessary to build on that foundation. If you're in the market for an elementary school in Houston, Yorkshire is a must-visit.

All three of our children attended Yorkshire through 5th grade. They received an incredible educational foundation. Each has been successful since, with one now in graduate school, another on the Dean's List in college, and the last finishing High School, with several college options. Besides the education they obtained, what impressed me was the school's focus on developing honest, respectful young people - attributes that will help them to have a happy and full life beyond their years at YA.

Yorkshire is a happy place for students, teachers and parents. I have had the privilege of working with the students and teachers at Yorkshire for over 20 years. I have seen many students move on to accomplish great goals in their lives, and I still hear from many of them today. They all tell me how Yorkshire Academy instilled a thirst for knowledge and helped them feel more confident in the classroom. I have had some tell me how Yorkshire helped them to feel good about themselves, and they felt like what they had to say was important. The teachers at Yorkshire are there because they love the students, and it shows!

I moved my daughter to Yorkshire Academy from an Exemplary Spring Branch public school. She is an exceptional student, and is also talented in the performing arts. I felt that her needs would be better met at Yorkshire. While at Yorkshire, she received exceptional teaching in math, language, history and science, and was very prepared for middle school. She also thrived in the performing arts opportunities at Yorkshire Academy, and is now an avid singer and performer. Yorkshire's music program allows a chance for every student to achieve performance opportunities in a loving and successful environment. The owner and principal of Yorkshire are loving, fair, encouraging and the best in the business. There is also a great PVC group for the parents to join. Yorkshire is truly a one-of-a kind school, where kids are treated as family, and encouraged to be the best that they can be.

We moved from a reputable public school district to Yorkshire Academy. The transition was great. The low student to teacher ratio is really important for kids at this age. Each child's gift and talent are well looked into. The director and principal are the most down to earth and nurturing educators that I have ever seen. My kids feel very happy and enthusiastic about school everyday.

This school failed my child through a bad faculty system. One teacher humiliated the child in front of the class for talking softly and was asked to sit down before finishing. The next student was even more soft-spoken but was allowed to finish. My child complained about the uneven treatment, instead of affording an explanation and learning moment about public speaking, the teacher let the situation break-down by mishandling it in a way that does not elevate student confidence. We've moved our child away to a different school and is now in advanced classes for that age level after the new school discovered the child's talents and skills. Yorkshire - "Nurturing and Challenging" Program??? FAIL

The teachers and staff are incredible. They know every child and how to get the best from them all! It's amazing to watch our children's confidence blossom and a thrill to know how much they love to be there. We only wish the school would continue past Grade 5!

My son has been attending Yorkshire Academy for 4 years. I can not say enough good things about this school! The teachers challenge the children academically, and my sons confidence goes from strength to strength. The staff are very caring and supportive, and the parents are also very active in school life. My son is very happy, and always looks forward to going to school, it really is a special place!
