We were fortunate enough to be a part of the Yorkshire Academy family for 3.5 years while we lived in Houston. We had moved there from Canada, where I had been teaching for 10 years, and so when looking for a school I was looking both as a parent and an educator. I could not have asked for a better beginning to my kids academic career than Yorkshire. The entire faculty truly love their jobs, the school, each other, and most importantly the students. I have worked in many schools and have never seen a more positive school environment than YA. The curriculum is innovative and top notch, the building and amenities are constantly being improved upon, the after school opportunities are varied and of very high quality. Respect, tolerance and love of each other is constantly enforced in the student body and I truly couldn't have asked for a nicer group of kids for my kids to call their friends. When we decided to return to Canada, leaving Yorkshire Academy was by far the hardest thing for us to leave. Again, looking at the school both as a parent and as an educator, I can't say enough good things about Yorkshire,I am so grateful we were fortunate to have the years there we did.

Our family is so happy we found this school and we were lucky to get in. Our daughter absolutely loves it. She has learned so much and met many friends. The staff is amazing, all the teachers are very sweet and caring. Lots of afternoon classes for all ages that are very convenient. As a working couple we really appreciate that the school provides care after regular hours.

My son attended Yorkshire Academy from Pre-K through 5th grade. During that time, I have had the opportunity to really know the curriculum, the staff, and the families who entrust their children to YA. The staff are first rate. They have prepared my son exceptionally well for junior high both academically and emotionally. He has been accepted to a top notch middle school in an extremely competitive environment and placed into the advanced track. Their PSIA prep is first class. I have English friends whose children attended YA. They were also very happy with the quality of the education their children received. My son isn't very organized and I really appreciated the way his 5th grade teacher worked with him to improve this because she knows how important it is in middle school. The music program, run by Mrs. Morris, is incredible. I cannot stress enough how caring and thoughtful the staff at YA are. My son has endured a long divorce. The staff at YA, from the principal to the teachers, have given him so much love and a safe place when he most needed one. I cannot imagine a more nurturing environment. YA is an international environment with students from around the world.

Yorkshire Academy s climate and culture is composed of robust teacher support, active family engagement and a supportive environment. These factors have made our family experience at Yorkshire a great one.

This school has a very nurturing and familiar environment, it is such a great start for kids in elementary, the children are well rounded, we loved specially the art and music program; we were very blessed to have such an amazing and talented music teacher. Yes it is privately own but it is not only about money, they are always looking for ways to improve everything, in the 3 years we have been there, we have seen lots of improvement in various areas. This year they have changed part of the curriculum and I love it. Also it has a very good management, positive problem solving attitude and very proactive parents, who are actively involved in their children education and school activities. The year musical it is quite a show, the PSIA competition is there for the kids who want to participate and it is such a great experience, lots of extra teacher couching. This year I love the school theme about being a Bucket filler by having a loving attitude towards others. What else you can ask in a school.

My two boys are loving their first year at Yorkshire Academy. As a former teacher (at a different school) I can really appreciate everything YA provides for students and their families. The teachers and staff are over-the-top fabulous. We truly feel blessed having the opportunity to send our children to YA.

Yorkshire Academy is absolutely the very best that you can provide for your children. I have a son, who has been studying there for the last 2 years(KG and grade1), I could not be more happy. My son absolutely adores his school.

Yorkshire Academy is the best decision my husband and I have ever made! Our oldest child started in Preschool at the age of 3 and has loved every minute of being there! He is always so excited to go to school and has continued to thrive immensely! The teachers and staff are so incredibly supportive and nurturing, and they go over and beyond to accommodate each child's every need. We have been so happy at Yorkshire Academy, we just wish they went through middle school and high school!! :)

I have 3 kids attending YA for the last 7 years. If you want your kids to be well rounded dynamic and engaging young people then you are visiting the right school. I have 3 kids started with MDO. The school focusses on every aspect and need of children based on their age. They have an outstanding curriculum that just not only prepares the kids for future academic challenges, but makes them educated well rounded people. The school has an outstanding art and music department. The PE and health emphasis is a another strength that adds to raising not just book smart kids but growing up to be healthy and smart kids. The afterschool program is a valuable aspect that is constantly updated and well managed program! LOVE THE SCHOOL!!! Submitted by a parent

My daughter has attended Yorkshire since MDO and is now in the 3rd grade. I couldn't imagine how our lives would have been different had we not decided to come to Yorkshire. From day 1, 7 years ago, the faculty knew my name and the name of my child. She gets up everyday, excited to go to school. They have nurtured her and given her a sense of independence that will definitely come in handy as she progresses through the upper grades and beyond Yorkshire. The thought of leaving in 2 1/2 years makes me very sad, but I know that she had the strongest foundation academically that I could have given her and she will be well prepared for the next phase of her schooling. The low student/teacher ratio makes all the difference in the world. If you even have a doubt about where to send your child, just visit Yorkshire. They will make you feel at home instantly and you will not regret leaving your child in their care everyday!

I attended Yorkshire Academy through 5th grade and even in my third year of college, I still love talking about my elementary school days. The nurturing nature of the classrooms, the diverse student population, and the extracurriculars are unmatched. Yorkshire manages to provide challenging academics and to ensure every child cultivates their music, foreign language, computer, p.e. and art skills. When I moved to public school, I missed this combination Yorkshire does so well. If I live in the Houston area when I have children, I will send them to Yorkshire in a heartbeat. I still feel at home when I visit the school and highly recommend Yorkshire Academy. It is a special place.

We have 3 children at Yorkshire Academy, two in 5th and one in 3rd. All 3 started in MDO. The classes are small, academically challenging and foster a nurturing environment. The enrichment classes as well as the afterschool classes have offered our kids the opportunity to express themselves. We have found it to be the perfect balance of academics and enrichment. The teachers are fantastic and Yorkshire has a very involved parent volunteer community. My 5th graders will be moving on to middle school next year and we feel they will be well prepared. My children love going to school every day.

I attended Yorkshire through 5th grade, and it made such an impression that now, as a graduate student, I am compelled to go back and write a review. Sure, other schools are challenging academically, or have interesting extracurriculars, but what sets Yorkshire apart is the ever-present sense of belonging and even family. Coupled with the aforementioned rigor and enrichment, Yorkshire provides a nearly ideal foundation, as well promotes the confidence necessary to build on that foundation. If you're in the market for an elementary school in Houston, Yorkshire is a must-visit.

All three of our children attended Yorkshire through 5th grade. They received an incredible educational foundation. Each has been successful since, with one now in graduate school, another on the Dean's List in college, and the last finishing High School, with several college options. Besides the education they obtained, what impressed me was the school's focus on developing honest, respectful young people - attributes that will help them to have a happy and full life beyond their years at YA.

Yorkshire is a happy place for students, teachers and parents. I have had the privilege of working with the students and teachers at Yorkshire for over 20 years. I have seen many students move on to accomplish great goals in their lives, and I still hear from many of them today. They all tell me how Yorkshire Academy instilled a thirst for knowledge and helped them feel more confident in the classroom. I have had some tell me how Yorkshire helped them to feel good about themselves, and they felt like what they had to say was important. The teachers at Yorkshire are there because they love the students, and it shows!

I moved my daughter to Yorkshire Academy from an Exemplary Spring Branch public school. She is an exceptional student, and is also talented in the performing arts. I felt that her needs would be better met at Yorkshire. While at Yorkshire, she received exceptional teaching in math, language, history and science, and was very prepared for middle school. She also thrived in the performing arts opportunities at Yorkshire Academy, and is now an avid singer and performer. Yorkshire's music program allows a chance for every student to achieve performance opportunities in a loving and successful environment. The owner and principal of Yorkshire are loving, fair, encouraging and the best in the business. There is also a great PVC group for the parents to join. Yorkshire is truly a one-of-a kind school, where kids are treated as family, and encouraged to be the best that they can be.

We moved from a reputable public school district to Yorkshire Academy. The transition was great. The low student to teacher ratio is really important for kids at this age. Each child's gift and talent are well looked into. The director and principal are the most down to earth and nurturing educators that I have ever seen. My kids feel very happy and enthusiastic about school everyday.

This school failed my child through a bad faculty system. One teacher humiliated the child in front of the class for talking softly and was asked to sit down before finishing. The next student was even more soft-spoken but was allowed to finish. My child complained about the uneven treatment, instead of affording an explanation and learning moment about public speaking, the teacher let the situation break-down by mishandling it in a way that does not elevate student confidence. We've moved our child away to a different school and is now in advanced classes for that age level after the new school discovered the child's talents and skills. Yorkshire - "Nurturing and Challenging" Program??? FAIL

The teachers and staff are incredible. They know every child and how to get the best from them all! It's amazing to watch our children's confidence blossom and a thrill to know how much they love to be there. We only wish the school would continue past Grade 5!
