I believe they do this through the teaching of strong Christian values and morals and via the week attendance of Chapel during school.

My children, now 5th and 1st grade students have advanced and thrived in this nurturing academic environment! --------Both have attended since they were toddlers. We are impressed by all that has been imparted to them and we know they advance children beyond even their grade level oftentimes! T. Valencia (Amherst College '98) G. Valencia ( MIT '99)

These Review must be written by the staff at this school! They had 3 teachers turn over in 1 year same class. The books are outdated. The academic is so behind. The last teacher left did nothing but complain to me about this school. Tuition is high for such a poor academic. Everyone and the staff is friendly which is a positive note. But they will accept anyone as long as they can get someone to pay the tuition!! Also there was a piano teacher there that would only accept cash for her classes (sketchy in my option). The school allow this. Just under very horrible leadership! Save your time and Money. Find something else.

My daughter has been at Wesley for 3 years now and loves it there! We especially love the projects that are worked on in several different classes because this is so much more applicable in the real world and more fun too! So instead of just studying social studies, they do projects that involve, math, reading, writing, social studies, computer technology, art/graphic design, presentation skills, creative thinking and problem solving! So much better than memorizing stuff for a test! This is the kind of learning that prepares your child for the real world. All this in a loving Christian environment where kids support each other instead of pick on each other!

We have been at Wesley for 7 years and are extremely happy. The class sizes are small, the teachers individualize instruction and care about each child and the children feel safe and accepted while achieving his or her full potential. Wesley weaves the Christian faith into every aspect of the curriculum. Our children are learning and growing academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.

My daughter, who is now 3.5yrs, studies here for 2 years. It's a great school anyone can ask for. She started her school when she turned 2. She neither knew English nor was ever away from home. But her teachers were warm and welcoming. They also supported me in potty training her. They gave us constant feedback, identified her weak points and also gave suggestions to improve in those areas. My daughter is always excited to go to school and loves her teachers. The only reason we are changing the school is because we are moving to a different locality. I would recommend this school to any parent.

This is our child's first year at Wesley and we could not be happier! The small classroom gives her plenty of one-on-one time with her teacher; resulting in her progressing in reading faster than anticipated. Wesley also encourages and provides plenty of opportunities for parents to be involved in school related activities. We love Wesley Academy!

Wesley Academy is a wonderful small private Christian school. Both my children have attended beginning with the Mother's Day Out program. As a parent, it is important to me that my children are loved, nurtured and feel safe along with getting a good education. My children are happy. I could not ask for a better school!!

Wesley Academy has caring educators who are geared to working in a Christian Environment. They are accustomed to working with a diverse group of students of various ethnic backgrounds as well as learning abilities. They foster an atmosphere centered on Christian principles and on kindess/respect among students. My kids have been at Wesley for 6 years and have done well. The Classical Curriculum taught will prepare them much better for high school and college than many public schools would. They also are a good value for the tuition.

Wesley Academy is home away from home for our family. We've been a part of the school for the past 5 years (both of my young children attending since they were 1 year old). We chose Wesley because of the loving staff, its commitment to academic excellence and because of its environment where my girls are able to grow spiritually and in good character. The school's leadership does a phenomenal job and continues to make Wesley a first rate institution. We love the small class sizes, the diversity and the small town feel.

Our school is a faith-based, fun-filled, family oriented environment where each student can grow in their full potential spiritually and academically. The student diversity is good. Classroom sizes are good and Wesley continues to grow, expand in an area each year. Our Technology/Computer lab is up and doing great. Wesley prepares its' students for high school. We have one daughter still being taught and tested and our graduate is thriving in her high school in all areas. In leadership; student counsel, in her faith; leader on the Dominican preaching team, her service; mission trips and her studies; member of the National Honor Society. We are Wild About Wesley! Come Grow with us! It's a well kept secret...So grateful someone invited us!

Wesley Academy is an outstanding educational institution that develops its children into intellectual, well-rounded, Christian contributors to society. The school employs certified professionals that instruct our children through fresh educational strategies, Christian principles, relevant tools and state of the art equipment. I'm so glad we chose Wesley Academy for our daughter, you should too.

Wesley Academy is a great school for our daughter. The school and staff recognize every student is an individual. This is a nuturing environment. Even with her ADD/ADHD accommodation has been made. We are starting our third year. I only wish we had found this school earlier!

As a parent you want the best for your children, and this school is defiantly THE BEST!! We have been there for 3 years and currently have 2 of our children there. The staff, teachers and head of school are amazing!! Teacher to student ratio is low, so all students receive the best education possible!! Again the teachers are amazing, and you can see their love to every child!!!

Wesley Academey - I feel very fortunate to be a part of the Wesley Academy family because that is what it is - a family. The students recieve an excellent education taught by well prepared teachers in an environment of tender loving care. The smaller class sizes allow for more individualized attention per student. And it also invites teachers/students/families to interact and get to know each other - offering teachers the opportunity to attend to each students educational and emotional needs. I am especially happy with the state of the art technology program the children are introduced to at a young age. PE and the arts programs are another bonus to this school where these are being cut from public school curriculiums. My child is thriving with her eduction, involvment and friendships. I feel very secure taking my child to Wesley Academy because I know she is in the loving hands and watchful eyes of the teachers, administrators and Quillian counselors.

This is our second year at Wesley and we love it! My daughter is getting a top notch education. The teachers are engaged and available. The class size is kept small which allows the children to be very close with one another. The parent participation for this class is wonderful, everyone is included and does what they can. Our family enjoys the participation of the church and Quillian center next to Wesley. This means lots of festivals and activities to enjoy with the children through out the year. My husband and I plan to have all three of our children attend Wesley Academy.

Wesley is located in Westchase Business District, at Beltway 8 and Richmond Ave. It sits on 20+ acres and is a beautiful campus. Walk in the school and you will immediately feel the warmth and caring that exudes from the school. I have had children at Wesley Academy for 13+ years now. Can't imaging going anywhere else. My children have both excelled academically because of the teachers that challenge the children to be the best they can be. My oldest daughter is now at public high school and is excelling academically because of the great foundation we received at Wesley. There had been some changes in administration the last few yrs, but they have strong foothold and are poised for growth. There is excellent leadership in the school. It is priced below almost all of the other private schools in the area making it a true gem!

I have worked at the school for 4 years now and couldn't be happier. Over the past several years we have had several changes in administration, but I am happy to report that we are in a great place now. The camaraderie between the faculty has kept the school on the right path and with our new admin team, we are thriving. I love seeing our students return with fantastic stories from high school and learning how we have changed the course of various students lives and choices that students have made based off of something they remember from their time at Wesley. The Lord is moving here, and we are truly blessed to be apart of the action.

Wesley Academy teachers care about their students and fully believe in helping them reach their full potential both academically and spiritually. We have been at Wesley Academy for 6+ years and will stay at Wesley until all our children have graduated from Wesley. Yes, Wesley has gone through changes and we have stuck with Wesley and given them our support through all the changes that have occurred, during this time the teachers continued to care about their "children/students" and never once gave up on the school or demanding the children learn to their full potential. Upon gradation from Wesley Academy the student is FULLY prepared for transition to high school. It is wonderful to find a school in which the children are family, not just students. The children are taught not to judge their fellow classmates and to accept them as they are.

Our son has attended wesley/FUMC ELC since he was 1 year old. He is now going in to Kindergarten in September 2013. He is thriving and loves his school. Wesley is inclusive, nurturing and most of all the teachers are there because they love the school. Most have been there a long tenure and the union at the school is palpable.

Our son just started his 6th year at Wesley Academy and we couldn't have him in a better school. Academically the school is a solid and sound place and the students get lots of positive, loving, nurturing and encouraging attention from both teachers and staff. Character building is another strong value of the school; our son is a happy, polite and outgoing child who easily builds friendships with both younger and older students, something the school encourages through reading buddy and cross age & classlines teaching systems or events. The smaller class sizes allow the students to focus on the core academics while in their home classroom and the cross class line events let them build plenty of friendships and develop socially. As a family with two parents working full time outside the household the Quillian Center is another God sent facility; after school, summer camp and youth sport programs provide our son with a safe and fun place to be after school with good friends under professional and loving supervision. Wesley Academy is small enough to feel like family and large enough to give the students a top noch education. Teachers, staff, students and parents all feel at home.

I'm a bit confused with some of the negative reviews on this wonderful school. I attended Wesley academy way back in the day, and although I realize things change and staff/teachers come and go, the school itself stands on fantastic principles. The teachers were very loving and after coming from a large public school (and having a horrible experience) the teachers really took me under their wings and helped me make a smooth transition. I felt loved, cared for, and special. I had a fantastic relationship with the teachers, and still very often visit my former teachers. I believe that Wesley Academy helped me become the young woman I am today, and I am so incredibly grateful.

We love Wesley Academy. For us it is a warm and safe place for children and their whole family. My daughter goes to Wesley for almost three years and my son for one and a half and we are glad we found Wesley back then when we moved from Europe to Houston. Wesley is a real rainbow school: many different kind of people with different backgrounds and from different cultures, so the children can learn from each other and they accept and respect each other. We are looking forward to another great schoolyear in a warm and safe environment in which each child is supported and challenged to develop them in the best possible way academically, physically and emotionally.

We have been very happy at Wesley Academy for the past four years and will return there for the 2012-13 academic year. The school has been beset with leadership challenges the past few years. But, frankly, as long as my child is getting a good education in the classroom, I'm not that concerned about who is in the principal's office. Teachers do an excellent job of teaching to the student and where each individual student is in the curriculum. There have been huge technology upgrades in the past two years and the rest of the school's facilities are better than most in West Houston. As a two-working parent household, we also utlize the after-school care through the adjacent Quillian Center.

We have enjoyed our first year at Wesley Academy! The school is nuturing toward students and has a solid Christian foundation. I was pleased to know that my child's teacher knew her learning style(VISUAL) , what time of day was most productive for her (Afternoon) and her outside inerest (Art). Parents have the ability to have access to teachers well beyound school hours ( but I tried not to abuse it). The abundance of field trips where a joy and very educational. As the school rebuilds amid our unstable economy, I think Wesley Academy is a wise financial and academic investment for my children. My girls are doing well at Wesley!

I feel the Tuition should be lowered unless they put more money in the classroom and library. I did not see any Smart boards and the library is very small. I expect more for the $$$. However there is a New Principle from a wonderful private school in the museum Distriic, I strongly feel she will bring much needed change - even the halls are bland, no crown molding or anything? for a $10k price tag I expect more. I am considering this for my child but I am not impressed by the building -hopefully the teachers are a plus!! I hope the Principle really shakes things up, or else this school my die a slow deliberate death.

All classroom teachers are certified in the state of Texas or another state, or working on certification in their content area. Early childhood teachers are certified with a Child Development Associates Certificate, or are working toward that certificate. Wesley teachers are kind and nurturing teachers, and are always sensitive to student needs.

Let me give you a few examples that left us with the decision to leave. First, teacher made a very inappropriate comment last year to some middle school students. The teacher received no reprimand. From discussions among parents, this is not the first incident of this nature. Second, I specifically asked if all the teachers were certified by the state of Texas, & was told Yes. I later searched the State Board of Education s certification records, & was not able to locate certifications for some of the teachers employed at Wesley Academy. Third, the treatment of the children at the school was very disappointing. A teacher called two students stupid in front of their peers , & an administrator verbally threatened one. These alone are very valid reasons for parents wanting to remove their children.

For all of you that wrote negative comments in regards to Wesley Academy-I not sure you have the correct school. The Wesley Academy that I know has an excellent Head of School, a more than caring and nurturing group of teachers, a neuro Nurse on campus, teaches outside the box, but in a teach to learn and understand environment not a test prep manner-focuses on God's word and a true Christian way of living.I was approached by a few moms last year about their concerns and their negativity towards the school. Believe me readers-these folks are the type that are never satisfied, no matter what the situation is.This school believes in being positive, working together, focusing on each individual student and forming strong fellowship in the school. This year at Wesley you can feel the positive energy of participation and determination to make Wesley the Best learning environment! I was disappointed by this school. The principal does not support the staff. The students were not receiving recess. The principal does not create a cohesive environment among the workers. Students were always in test prep from when they first got there till the time they left for summer. Magnet, student, and new teachers don't seem to make it through to the end of the school year.

My children have been at Wesley for three years. It just keeps getting better. I like the fact that we see the same faculty returning every year, there is not a revolving door as we experienced at a previous school. The school really increased in size. It has been great to see new families join our school.

Wesley Academy has been the answer for my children s education. We tried both public and another private school without success. Small class sizes make it possible for the teachers to meets the very different needs of my children and the others in their classrooms, although there are not special programs that public schools have like G/T or resource rooms. The teachers are dedicated and committed to teaching each child and bringing out their personal best. There is not a sense of entitlement on the Wesley campus and that is important to us. My children have found the curriculum to be challenging but not so stressful that extra curricular activities need to be eliminated keep up with outside work. The tuition is the best value around when you compare Wesley to other area schools but most importantly my children are safe, learning and happy.

Intially, I was excited to learn about Wesley Academy but I found very quickly that they were very closed minded. My child would beg me not to send them to this school any more. I believe the teachers, the principal are inflexible and are not up to speed on modern day teaching methods. They do not seem very nurturing which was especially important for children in early elementary. The were highly critcal were quick to suggest there was a learning disability. Even though the tuituion was expensive they were suggested I spend even more money to do what I believe was their job. Throughal testing and time has revealed that my child does not have a learning disability but was simply not connecting to the low quality of teaching skills or methods. I would recomend that a public school in any district would be better. Save your money!

The idea of small classrooms sounds great, but it doesn't necessarily mean that your child will receive the attention that he/she may need. Teachers are very closed minded when a student struggles, and they are very inflexible about using different teaching techniques and they give up pretty easily on the child. Very limited arts programs, purely interested in religious teaching and academics, they are not very well rounded. Parents are very involved as long as they share the school train of thinking, any thinking outside the box is not well received. Overall, Wesley is a safe place, there are some individuals with a warm heart and mean well. Unfortunately, they don't have the power to change things.

Wesley Academy has been a great blessing for my son. The small class size, mixed with teachers who actually know my son have been terrific. His grades and enthusiasm have reached an all time high. This is the place for any family who wish to see their child grow academically and emotionally.

This school has potential to be great, but unfortunately they have taken three steps backward instead of forward in the growth department. There are some excellent teachers, but there are also some very avg and below avg ones. The school has lost excellent teachers over the past few years b/c of there problems and unwillingness to fix them. The principal is very sweet, but has a very 'closed door' policy with parents. I am extremely disappointed that Wesley was not able to fix their problems and become the nurturing school they had the potential to become. They continue to decline as enrollment decreases substantially.
