Not, some people do not know what goes on in the board room. Its all politics. So attend meetings and stay involved.
I am the parent of a 7th grader and a Spring ISD employee. I did NOT want to send my son because of the rep that CMS had when it opened. The school has made great improvements and is the only recognized middle school in SISD (2 yrs in a row). As with with any school, try to keep on top of your child's school like. Check grades online, use the agendas provided, and email teachers/admin as much as you need to so you know what is going on and how to help your baby. Teachers are people, too, and these teachers wouldn't be at CMS if they didn't want the best for the kids. If parents, teachers, admin, and students ALL work together and do their parts, you all will love CMS as we do.
I have been going to this school my entire middle school years. I think that this is one of the best schools around. You have teachers everywhere to assist with a problem. We have some of the best sports teams and academically achieved alot.I know that next year when i leave off to high school i will truely miss this campus! this is the school if you want your child to succeed.
This is my daughter's second year with Claughton and we both love it. She came from a small private school in HISD, so we thought the transition would be a little rough. It was the opposite. She has excelled. I love the fact that I can monitor her grades on-line and contact teachers with questions before it becomes an problem. For the size of the school, I think they are doing a great job.
Claughton is a great learning enviorment!the only downfall is they are too lenient about fights. that could be handled better.
May I suggest if you plan on allowing your student to attend Claughton Middle School, please be prepared to be more than active you must be proactive.Staff is mixed with great teachers and subpar teachers ,half of which are there to collect a check and are not there for the benifit of your student. Once Spring ISD learns how to teach the student and stops teaching the class and the test, it will become a great asset to our community.
I am a C.M.S student who is very pleased with my experiance here for the last 2 school years..&& of what I have left..I am an 8th grade student who truly thinks Claughtin is the school you want your child to be at if you like caring teachers and staff who really cares about your childs welfare. The extra-curicular activites are outsatnding..I hae the dance team..Choir..Track..All of the above in which the teachers abide by by fixing the schedule to fit me and my peers..Its a wonderful school!!!
My daughter was not a very good student in elementary school, but once she went to Claughton, her grades went up. that way in 7th grade she had an oppertunity to be in athletics. it was all a dream come true.
My Daughter attended Claughton for the first time last year. The support that I recieved from the staff was far better than what I had at Thompson. The school is very informative and communicates with the family well.
My child attended this school last year and he will return. Basically, the entire year was a waste. The teachers in my opinion did not and in most cases could not teach because of disruptive students on a daily basis. It seems as if the teachers were on somewhat of vacation until time to prepare students for TAKS. Communication between teachers and counselors was poor. It took one counselor 2 weeks to return my call after several messages. I explained to her my questions were answered after I had to take off work to visit the school. Extracurricular activities were offered but my child did not participate. This summer will be spent trying to academically prepare for another school.
