I used to be a student of the Fort Bend district from elementary (Colony Meadows)- middle school (Fort Settlement)- high school (Clements High School)
A good chunk of the elementary schools are exemplary, so it shouldn't be too hard for you to find a good one. Things narrow down when you get to the middle schools. At my time and even now, there are 2 really good middle schools and one above average (Sartartia). The good ones are First Colony and Fort Settlement. Those 2 used to be First Colony until FSMS was created and half of the teachers were transferred to FSMS. The Math coach is a national level coach (won 2 nationals in the last 5 years) and his students all went to MIT, Harvard and at worst UT. For High schools, the school with the most prestige is Clements (by far), but the high school has weakened in recent years...13765
It's about making the right choices and where you want to live. Actually, you'll notice that certain areas are a lot more expensive than others because of the school (mainly due to HS). All the elementary schools have great ratings. You can probably randomly live somewhere and still get a good elementary. The middle schools narrows down VERY quickly to First Colony and Fort Settlement. And finally, the HS of the area is Clements, which feeds from the 2 best middle schools listed above.
From my experience (went there from elementary to high school), the elementary is decent, but miserable because I just absolutely hated the school. Middle School had all of my best memories and the Math team is one of the top 5 in the NATION. It's Fort Settlement and First Colony representing ALL of TEXAS with the coach from those 2 schools. All these students later went to MIT, Harvard, and other elite schools. You can't find a middle school better than this. High school.... is just miserable for me because it's so incredibly competitive(and the teachers are HARD). It's a magnet school with 40-50% asians. Overall, there aren't any programs like the Math program in Middle school, but I guess it's a decent choice.13764
I have 2 children that go to FBISD schools. My Kindergartner is doing very well...she's smart, but has tendency to lose focus and direction. Her teacher is great, she recognizes my daughters behavioral issues and addresses them by giving her additional duties or assignments, as well as time to herself to do her work when she's not getting along with other students.
My 4th grader is not doing as well. He has teachers who try, but I sometimes feel like they're overwhelmed. Communication is great at times, and lacking at times. When there is regular communication, he does well. However, when there isn't regular communication he does worse. I know his teachers are trying their best, but I always ask them to keep me informed about what's going on, especially when he's not on task...and alot of times they're too bogged down with other work to send an email, so it goes for weeks before being addressed. The Tuesday folders only give you so much info to go on.
Overall, I feel the FBISD elementary teachers have alot of pressure on them to keep their TAKS scores up. Sometimes the kids individual needs get lost, not due to neglect, but due to resource restraints like time and energy.13763
