My children (7, 6 and 4 yrs) are now in a private school (Montessory), we've been happy with the school for almost 4 years now. Currently we are thinking to move to a new house around Rice/Museum District with Poe Elementary as its Public school zone. I need any insight/advice/experience sharing about the quality of Public school in this area and do you think it's a ok idea to move them in the middle of the semester? I'm interested to enroll them in Roberts Elementary which has a higher rating than Poe and great diversity compared to West U. Is this doable considering Robert which is not in the zone of our future house to put the kids in? I heard many stories about pubic school and its qualities; If I could just at least have 95% confidence to put the children in the public school; any advices/infos will be highly appreciated!!
Check out the district website to find out about open enrollment options. As you know, the typical school a family would attend for public school would be the one the district for which the neighborhood is zoned. Most districts offer other options, but there are typically application deadlines to follow.
You can read about the quality of the schools using this link: http://www.greatschools.org/find-schools/ and typing in the zip code. You can compare the school ratings and read parent reviews.
