First impressions are everything and since we are new to the area, we don't know anyone. We were hoping for a positive experience for our child but if the woman at the desk in the Counselors office reception area, Ms. Christy(?) is representative of what we can expect, then we know it won't be. This woman would not acknowledge our presence even when we spoke to her. She got up and went to another room and sent someone else to deal with us. Never gave us eye contact. I run a large organization with more than 100 employees and would NEVER allow that attidude to be the face of my organization.
I graduated from HHS in 2008. The teachers I had were wonderful. Sure there are the occasional few that don't care but the ones I encountered made an impact on myl life and my current goal is to graduate and become a teacher there. The extra curricular activities were pretty good. My only complaint is the administration, not principals and such but the 'big wigs' in my opinion they are out of touch with the students and have already formed opinions without bothering to get the student perspective.
I loved my students and the parents were supportive. I left HHS after 17 years because of the leadership. I have been gone for almost two years, I hear its worse. As a tax payer in Huntsville it is very frustrating. They will hire anybody from the outside, but don't seem to care about their own.
huntsville high school need more qualified teachers that really care about student learning not just getting hired for a job. proof is in the faling each year of the student who can not pass the task testing. Do they care to work with a child who is having problem in a class no, I don't think so you can see this by looking at some grades.
Huntsville High School offers many clubs and organizations for the students. The athletic programs are fairly decent however the curriculum is not challenging enough to prepare students for the day they go to college.
