We are not happy with the overcrowding this year. Students do not have lockers and have to carry their backpacks. There is too much homework and not enough done in class. We are not receiving proper communication. We did not even get to meet the teachers. Just via a presentation on Edmodo. We are hoping things will get better when the new junior high is built.

The school does not have enough text books for kids. Kids need to access the online ones, which are hardly accessible. The edmodo is full of comments and it is takes forever to get to the info needed. Many times cannot even upload the assigments, if there are others using it. Most of the teachers are great and keep kids engaged and enlightened. However some of them just give assignments which not only are laborious, time consuming, giving zero value addition to the student's knowledge, but also kill their interest and drain them out. Eg 1: What is the big idea of drawing pictures of French and Indian people at war, when what you have to remember is the sequence of events and dates and causes and effects. Instead of this, kids are made to draw and color like toddlers, rather than learn and analyze. Eg2: Why create stories and aurthor story books in Math class, when the kids need to learn and apply formulae and Math concepts. After all the edmodo was never updated on time with the right assignment doc Eg3: Despite teaching vocab, grammar etc teachers want students to make videos. This school seems to be much different than other schools of Katy ISD, like Beckendorf etc.

Last year everything was wonderful. However this year school is extremely overcrowded. No lockers for 8th graders (at least), no textbooks to take home for my 8th grader...This is disconcerting. Staff are wonderful, and atmosphere is good except for the extreme overcrowding.

What an excellent school! The principal is great, the teachers are fantastic, the school work is challenging, hands-on, and project based. Everyone has a can do attitude! I am looking forward to having both my children at WCJH next year.
