I am a student at West Memorial Junior High and I must say, these few years have been the worst years of my life. The students are very judgmental and rude. The school claims it has a "no tolerance policy" but that's all bologna. They don't do jack about anything that happens. The teachers and staff watch us secretly and think we don't notice. Hopefully I'll be out of this place soon. Worst. School. Ever.
It surprises me that WMJH has such a high rating. I would agree that the academics are top notch but the shortfall is the administrations inability to follow through with parental concerns relative to the safety of the students. They tend to have a "look the other way" or "it's just playful behavior" attitude relative to Bullying/Harassment issues. They claim they have a "ZERO TOLERENCE" policy yet WMJH seems to forget what that is or how to implement it. Unfortunately we were forced to remove our child from WMJH after a number of incidents were identified to them and either no action was taken or minimal accountability was placed.
I'm going to this school as A new student in 7th grade I don't know what to expect but after seeing all the ratings this school gets and all the diffrent people feel better :)
I go to West Memorial Junior High(West Mo You Know!)The Band is great and so are the athletics.I find the teachers very nice, and it is easy to learn.People are very cluiquish, but most of us 'adopt' the new kids, and they quickly become our friends. There are so many different groups, new kids are bound to find the perfect friends. Most of us will go to Katy High School, the best sports school in Katy, but some people will attend Taylor High School, which is, as far as I know, a good academics school, and has excellent girls' sports.
I would not recommend this school if your child is a 'new' student. The kids are not accepting of new kids. Very cliquish. Kids are mean
i use to go to west memorial(west mo you know) and all i can say is the teachers are good the kids do try hard and they have a great athletic team and also go to katy high school which is the third best school for football in the nation and also its a very small school and everybody knows everybody so people have very close friendships with each other and especially ever new kid is quickly noticed by everybody and doesnt feel like a stranger and makes friends very well
This school seems to have a good academic program, but if you have a child who is in any way 'different', I would not recommend this school. My son has high functioning autism, and he is being bullied and picked on. The school he went to last year in Florida, he had no problem making friends and was not being bullied. You might want to try some empathy training for the kids at this school.
i am a student here at west memorial (west mo the nick name) and it has a great band program!
I highly recommend West Memorial JH. My children are motivated to learn because the faculty makes learning fun.
The programs at this school are great. They have speech, band, sports, etc. The teachers are helpful and informative and there are always parents involved in everything from volunteering during the day to helping with programs, PTA, parties, etc.
