I have had many issues this year with my son's teacher and the administration has not responded in a satisfactory way. The school had to restructure the classrooms, and my son was selected to change teachers in the middle of the second six weeks. The school gave the parents a day and a half notice before moving my son, in which I protested against him being moved. I spoke with multiple individuals in the administration. All in all, the response was "Regardless of your multiple objections, he is still being moved." His new teacher has very little experience, is poorly organized and does not provide feedback as to why he has to walk laps EVERY day. I see no notes, no description of why he spends his recess doing laps, and have not seen any clarification even though I asked specifically for it. Not happy with this school, its administration or my son's teacher. If your child is punished you should know why, every time. I have seen absolutely no extra curricular activities of interest that others have posted on here.

A TEA "recognized" school, the teachers we've had are very caring and the whole school also seems to be committed to education.

I had my doubts when the teacher and I could not define or agree upon an action to improve my second graders drop in performance. The principle Ms Davis stepped in and with the help of a district counselor (wish I had her name) in a matter of days we had our Son back on track. I did have to ask for this intervention, but to be fair he was not failing just underperforming and no organization can catch every sparrow that falls. When I did ask within a couple of days my wife and I were in a conference room at the school with an apparently successful plan of action that our Son responded to immediately.

I love Hutsell! I went there as a child and now my oldest son attends there too. The principal, Keiko Davidson is awesome! She knows most of the students names and really takes an interest in them. She is not afraid to get on their level and she is incredibly friendly and approachable. They have a wonderful after-school violin program for K-5th, which really adds to the musical growth of kids who choose to participate. Both the Kindergarten & 1st grade teachers my son has had this year are fabulous - he loves them and they are really interested in helping him grow to his full potential. The counselor is really helpful and attentive to the students needs. I am so grateful that my son has had the privilege of attending Hutsell!

Academic programs are good but the most attractive thing is that the teachers really care about the kids getting the education they need. They are phenomenal. Not many extra-curric. choices but there are many pilot programs used at Hutsell that are not used anywhere else in the district to facilitate the growing diversity and challenges of kids today. Still not very impressed with this school. Lack of communication, and the response time to get any job done is horrible. They forsed my 1st grader into 2nd grade. They are just pushing her along to get their quota!

Hutsell has a strings program for students that is unique to Katy ISD. There are also many activities that students can be involved in before or after school such as photography, chess, tutorials, and Spanish. The teachers are very dedicated, but there is little parent involvement. The PTA provides financial support in any way possible to allow for field trips, guest speakers, playground equipment, etc. to enrich students' lives.
