How can the community rating for Principle Leadership be a three when there is not constant leadership? I've witnessed a new Principle every year for the last five years, and now the school will be bringing back a previous interim principle for the upcoming school year that was nearly invisible during her short term!!

MY DAUGHTER WENT TO THIS SCHOOL FROM KINDERGARTEN TO 3 RD GRADE.AND EVERY YEAR THERE HAD BEEN A DIFFERENT PRINCIPLE AND TEACHERS, MUSIC,ART, DANCE , WE PULLED HER OUT AND ARE NOW IN KISD.VERY HAPPY WITH KISD. THIS SCHOOL HAS A PROBLEM, THE SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS!!! EVERY YEAR THEY FIRE THE PRINCIPLE, AND CHANGE STAFF. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME ON THIS SCHOOL , BIG MISTAKE!!! THEY HAVE NO ORGANIZATION IN THIS SCHOOL, THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING,

My kids had a great 2010/2011 year here. My kinder started here 4 weeks in after the public school he went to started to treat him as if he was "behind" so i enrolled him here and he had a great year. he is reading and writing and made friends and had a perfect year. I put my fifth grader in mid-year and she learned so much. She learned Shakespeare and latin and tons of history. my kids being at this school this year was a blessing. i do know that the administrators can change frequently but I can only speak for this year and things went very smoothly. the stress level in our family went down due to them being in the charter school.

I agree with the previous statement. My 5th grader was frustrated and "felt like a loser" in her public school because when a child can't keep up, they do nothing to help that child, just keep going for the high TAKS grades. I moved her to West Houston Charter School and she loves it and is flourishing. She is a much happier child, and the staff here is excellent and caring. She will not go to another public school where money is the main focus over the students.

OK, so I was totally bummed when Ms. Pickering left. But after a rocky year or so, I am delighted with what I am seeing. Headmaster Johnson has a tough road ahead, but he is remarkably impressing me with every aspect of his leadership. I would never send my child to a single KISD school or any other public school for that matter. I am highly educated but not able to afford private schools for my children. We have been with ACA or WHCS for 3 years now and would and have recommended it to everyone! I can't believe the low ratings here on this site. I own 2 successful businesses and can only imagine that the upset parents are the ones leaving reviews (as only the upset customers do!). Bravo ACA and Headmaster Johnson and teachers and students! I can't wait to see how my child excels compared to the other kids in my neighborhood. I look forward to all ACA does with my child!

Scores are going down. Why? When will the state have enough of one charter school failing year after year?

I have to agree with poster saying after Mrs. Pickering left WHCS has been downhill. Every year has a new principal who comes in with a new mentality, new ideas, new school hours and the entiry school body has to adept to it. Not mention the school is failling bad when comes to help students who are struggling (the only thing they do is retain them) and advanced students get bored by the lack of options. Very sad.
