Keller High has a real jealousy issue with the newer Fossil Ridge High School. But we cannot understand why! Fossil is newer, and the surrounding area is quite a bit nicer than Keller proper too. Believe what others have posted here(and elsewhere!)...my family and I are astounded by this! We are considering transferring to Central so that my two sons are not around this type of thing...if you are not from Keller...Keller High is the first high school in Keller, it is old...there are two other high schools in Keller ISD, one is Fossil Ridge, and the newest one is Central High(a showplacecomparedtoKellerHigh) . Read other message boards, there is something inherently wrong with the KHS attitude towards its sister schools(especially Fossil Ridge)in the same district! I must agree with the postings that I have read about the 'hate' at Keller High...I hear about it each day from kids.
Keller High School is the best college prep school in the area. Anyeone who would even consider attending any other school in the area is not interested in their children being prepared for life after high school.
I moved here from Virginia and was appalled after enrolling my child into Keller High School to find out about the lack of interest the administrators take in the students. The quality of books and equipment used is secondary. I transfered my child to Fossil Ridge High School where I don't have any complaints.
KHS is the best school in Northeast Tarrant County. The teachers care about the students and their families. Each student is given an opportunity to be successful. The school does an outstanding job or preparing students for life after high school. If you want your kids to be challenged and ready for the next level, then Keller is the place for you. However, do not be surprised if the school has high expectations for your students. They have also have high expectations of themselves. It is the premier high school in KISD.
Keller High School students and parents are notorious in the Dallas Ft. Worth region for being hateful to the other high schools in their own district, especially their arch-rival Fossil Ridge. If you want your children to learn how to hate, enroll them in Keller High School. We were extremely disappointed in this when we moved to this area five years ago. The sad part is that the kids are encouraged to disseminate this hatred by their parents...and, no, you will probably not see or hear about this unfortunately until your child is enrolled into Keller.
Keller High School is one of the simplest schools you could ever put your child in, if you do not want him/her to challenge themselves then do not put them in this school. My family moved here 5 years ago and my daughter was reading books in 6th, 7th, and even 8th grade that she had read back in South Carolina in grammar school... which was K-5th grade. Be careful about what you read and hear about Keller School District, they are also very unorganized and constantly late on reminders or important information. Be careful on the school you choose!
Keller High School does not prepare students for college and life beyond high school. My daughter takes all AP classes and always has and she has only had two challenging teachers/classes at her time at Keller.
Compared to other schools around the state, Keller High School is very superior! Compared to other schools in the general area, KHS is also superior. KHS has normal situations as all schools do, but it focuses on the welfare of the students and staff. If is safe, offers great opportunities to all students, provides a strong academic program, has an amazing Fine Arts Program, and supports competitive sports. Having experienced schools in Houston, the Panhandle, west Texas, throughout the metroplex, both small and large, I recommend KHS to everyone I know.
Keller is a great school district for kids who seek a hearty education. Keller High School is much like this. They offer many advanced classes and even college credit courses. Many children transfer to this school every year. There are the usual problems of peer pressure and things of that sort, but most of the kids seem to handle it well. It is a very good school.
Keller High School has heavy parent involvement and students are given many opportunities to participate in advanced classes and start thinking about their future early in high school.
Keller High School is continuously working to provide students with the best learning environment. The AP program is continuing to grow, and the students are being prepared for life after high school
