Yes, the previous reviewer is right. The principal is cold & snobby. The vice principal is worse. He does not even know how to talk to parents without being rude. They do teach our kids at school, but we parents are not their students. I wish the principal would teach that to the vice principal instead of being rude to us. Test score may be high, but that's all they care at the school.
Some teachers are very friendly and nice but, the principal is too rude. I felt, multiple times, that she did favoritism. Also, their management is very poor in the parking lot, where parents come to pick or drop their kids.
Great teachers..... horrible principle..... snobby neighborhood. My kids received a great education at Hidden Lakes, but there IS bullying in this school and the administrators DO NOTHING to protect the children. You must advocate for fair treatment if your child is the victim of bullying in this school!
My daughter just graduated from here and we have had an excellent 4 years. The teachers are very caring and focused on our child's needs. We made the mistake of attending a private Kintergarten prior to coming here and our daughter was behind in reading when she started at HLES. The teachers quickly identified the issue took quick action with extra work and guidance sent home and free tutoring at the school. My daughter now is a straight A student and excelling in all areas thanks to this schools efforts. I also want to point out the excellent Music program. My daughter learned so much in Hand Bells and on the recorder programs that she has learned to read music enought to sight read on our piano, without ever having a piano lesson. Thanks to Ms Isreal for identifying and letting us know of a special talent our daughter has.
My daughter started grade one late in the year (October) Her teacher made her transition seamless. She was buddied up with a friend so she didn't have to play alone, she was made queen for the day. At the end of the day she felt so positive about her first day. Her teacher also prepared all the children for my daughters arrival. This made the kids very excited to meet her! This year has been outstanding. What a wonderful school. We couldn't have asked for any better!
We were relocated to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and, after much research, chose to purchase a home across the street from Hidden Lakes Elementary. We could not be happier with the school! Our children have attended HLES for 3 years and have thrived in the environment created by teachers and administrators. A truly exemplary school!!!
One word of caution concerning bullying at HLE. Just because one personally did not experience bullying at HLE does not mean that it did not happen. It happened for several years to several children. I am glad that you personally did not have to deal with any issue like that nor do I wish it on anyone. As for BCI as a parent I have listened to a lot of people concerning BCI and I agree with you and I would not just dismiss your experience/opinion with BCI just because I personally did not experience BCI myself. We have taken percautions and our child is not going to BCI because of issues just like you stated. I agree with you about HLE teaches way too much to the TAKS. School starts and kids are already stroking out about TAKS. The pressure is just too much on these kids.
We chose Keller because of the school system, and could be more pleased with our experience. Staff are outstanding, kids enjoy learning and it is a safe and constructive learning environment..
My son, who previously hated school, feels like a celebrity here.Every teacher here has been GREAT with him.
I was a little surprised to read what some said about their child being bullied. Wait until they hit BCI (a school that I do not recommend) The staff and teacher are amazing. My child MISSES this school!! There is a very loving atmosphere. I am very picky, the only thing that is wrong is that recently they have started teaching a little too much toward TAKS, which is unacceptable. This is a first class top notch school, you will find no better elementary school out there!!! Unfortuantely I am not good with the written word so I cannot describe how fantastic this school really is.
My daughter has attended for 2 years. We love the school, love the principal, love all the teachers. Our children have attended schools across the country and this is no doubt the best of all of them.
Office staff and teachers are dedicated, friendly, overall great. Admininistration is lacking and are clearly focused on the TAKs test and attendance, not the individual student. Administration seems to have forgotten that they are overseeing a school of children in grades K-4. Administration is not approachable, and they tend to overlook bullying, but yet give referrals and In Schoool Suspensions to 6 year olds (and up) who are having difficulty adjusting to this environment. Again, the teachers are great, just seems that administration road blocks them all the time. If your child/ren have any special needs (challenged or need to be challenged), persistance is the only thing that will hopefully get you anywhere.
Wow! What a great learning environment for our children - great parent involvement, great PTA, great resources for children needed extra help, fantastic staff. Can't say enough. The chaos in the lunchroom is more than needed, but that is all relative in a school this size. Although it is a large school, it really doesn't feel that way. The co-curr classes are phenomenal, just wish Kindergarten could enjoy them too. Overall, A+ Few extra-curricular activities, but then again, few elementary schools anywhere do.
Overall very pleased with staff. Would agree that Parent involvement is excellent. Academics definately need to be brought up an entire grade level. Excel program needs to be lengthened and better screened to meet truely gifted childrens needs.
My daughter attended Hidden Lakes. Academically my child was able to progress at her own rate without waiting for the rest of the class. The principal knew the kids by name and is very friendly. Great school.
We have been very happy with the strength of the academics. The principal is accessible and responsive and the teachers are enthusiastic and committed. Co-curriculum is average. Parent involvement is high. Excellent school overall.
Hidden Lakes Elementary school is a wonderful school. The staff is very helpful and willing to listen at any time. I am very fortunate that my daughter attended HLES.
Excelent Shcool. Good environement. Great kids. Mrs. Dotson, superb teacher, she knows how to take kids to their best performance, self steem, autosuficiency.
HLES is a great school. Look for experienced teachers to get all the advantages. My daugther is very smart and she did great, but I am sure she would have done better with a more experienced teacher. They know how to push for a better performance.
Great language and math program. Could be better on the science curriculum. Parental involvement is phenomenal.
