Starkey Elementary provides a positive esteem building place for children to excel. Teachers go the extra mile for their students!!
This is a wonderful school. Starkey Elementary provides a warm and nurturing atmosphere, and I feel that the teachers and staff are really in touch with what is going on with the children on an individual as well as group basis. I feel confident that my child is receiving the best education and attention here, and that it is a safe and fun environment for him. Bravo! the teachers are all just wonderful and the librarian is a miracle.
Overall this school is so pleasant for my children to attend, and for me to visit. There are opportunities for parents to become involved in such as Home Room parent/help, mentoring and library volunteer work. I am so glad we have adults as Aids, for Kinder, ESL and cafeteria. However, the cafeteria (and lines to/from) seem too rigid as the students are not to talk at all, and keep it at at voice level 1 during their meal. It's good to have order and is necessary with such a short lunch time, but a little laughter and smiles aid in digestion too:)
Wonderful school as far as academic programs. I am thrilled with the option of an orchestra for 4th and 5th graders. The overall feel of the staff is a bit rigid and confining. The librarian is WONDERFUL. My children do very well here.
My daughter has attended Starkey since Kindergarten we have had nothing but positive experiences there. Everyone is helpful and friendly and makes the students needs come first.
