This started out as a great school. I liked that they informed us about every little thing, but that became annoying quickly. Children are active and they don't always comply but that is what these teachers went to school for! My child has been picked on and bullied and nothing has been done other than suspending her off the bus or putting her in ISS. I will be removing my children after this year because this school upsets me....
Great changes finally happening. Kids love going to school, great teachers, and highly visible principals. New safety measures ensure my kids will be safe and my kids have plenty opportunities for extra help with after school tutoring.
I was highly disappointed with this school this year. The way my child was treated at the school, no child should ever have to deal with. The administration did nothing more than try to cover their own back side during my entire complaint process. I ended up having to withdraw my child from this school and move her elsewhere.
Hay Branch Elementary school is outstanding. The entire staff is very caring and concerned about my children. The staff values the development of the 'whole child'. This is shown by the number of afterschool activities that are offered and the number of teachers that are involved in volunteering to lead them. All staff seem to go out of their way to learn about all students and make them feel important.Calling them by name and even knowing about their pets. One can truly feel love here. I am so pleased my children attend this school.
I transfered my child from another district school where my child was actually failing every subject. After a short time, his grades improved as well as his behavior and self image. The staff is concering, caring and involved. I'm looking forward to another suceessful year for my child.
This school is awesome so far. My child just started last year and had a wonderful teacher. The staff in the front office is very helpful and pleasent. The principal and assisant were very welcoming and wonderful with the kids. I plan to get more involeved with all the acticities the PTO has. Its a great school to be apart of.
Hay Branch is over all a good school. My child is a 5th grade TAG student and is on the A Honor Roll. t My daughter also attended as well as two neices and a nephew. The one thing I do see they could improve on, is follow through of complaints and issues. I find that when I do have problems nothing is every really addressed and some teachers would rather not pay attention to issue and just pretend they don't happen. While my kids have had some great teachers and expirences, the problems that we have had out weigh the good. With nothing being done, where can a child go to get an education with out all of the bull that never gets addressed fully and completely?
my daughter is currently a student at HB and she loves it she's in kindergarden with mrs. mckenzie and was in pre-k with ms. hollingsworth. my child is always coming home with something new that she'd learn for the day and cant wait to tell me about it. i have no problem with this school.
My daughter has been going to HB since K, she is now in 3rd grade and we all love it. The morning drop off is stressful, but other than that, we haven't had any problems with the school.
Both my children went to Hay Branch and 2 of my nieces. I was very involved with their teachers and volunteering at the school.I had such a great experience there, that I applied for a job as an aide. I was encouraged by the administration and teachers alike to get my degree to teach. I now teach Kinder and every day I wake up I love going to work. I know that sometimes misunderstandings occur, If you do please let someone know. As a school I know we welcome opportunities to improve and meet the challenges that living in such a diverse community bring.
Parent involvement is not encouraged. Eat lunch with your child and do spot checks, you will not be pleased. One of my children is a TAG student, the other two, A honor roll and they were miserable. When I took my concerns to the VP and the principal they were swept under the rug with the other parents who also tried to have a voice.
I have three daughters who attend school there ranging from pre-k to 2nd grade. My youngest who is in pre-k has the best teacher I have seen in a long time she is very hands on and my daughter loves to go to school everyday, my daughter who is in 2nd grade is in a class that is small and very personal. I feel that Mrs. Cox is an very special woman and I hope that my other children have opportunity to be one of her students.
My children go to this school. Although the principals seem nice, and some teachers are of great quality, there is a lot of other teachers and staff that grossly just do whatever they want and are of very poor quality. I noticed that they are never talked to about their poor behaviors. Thus, I think that the nice principals should demand more results from their wayward staff and get rid of staff members who are not only not doing their job well, but are standing in the way of others who are trying to do their job well.
This is a great school! My son is shy, but with his teacher here he has opened up a lot.
Teachers are super with many programs to fit all students' learning needs. Music and PE classes are in schedule weekly with certified teachers.
I know that this school is a comfortable place for my child to be. He really enjoys attending school here and I do to.
My son was taught in a Pre-K special education program last year by Kathy Anderson. She went above and beyond to help him with his problem areas. I personally witnessed her lavishing love and understanding of children with special needs. I don't think I could have hand picked a better environment for my child. She was caring, yet firm when necessary. I was very pleased with the quality of learning that my son received at Hay Branch Elementary. The school offered so much more than the 8AM-3PM school day. In the short time that my son attended he got to see a Hot Air Balloon, helicopters and go to the zoo. He had so much fun. I can only hope that his future teachers and schools will be as great as this one.
