SHS is the worst the school my children have ever attended, going from honor roll to barely passing and flunking. Teachers walk in pass out a handout and you are expected to teach yourself and finish all assignments. And Good Lord don't let the child have a doctor's appointment you will never make that work up. Sports what a joke, coaches are incompetent and win 2-4 games a season and the whole school raves about what a great coach, who doesn't even attend JV games. Plays black players over others for no reason but skin color, sits quality players behind the black kids. School, administration, teachers and coaches are all a joke, send your children elsewhere.

Throughout most of my 8th grade middle school year i was told Shoemaker is a bad school and theres gun fight and whatever else. I had several teachers and student threathing from my previous school who now go to Ellsion that told me if i went there chances are I'd be bullied, a slut, or undereducated. But I am here to say NONE of the things you hear about the school is true. Shoemaker is actually a PRETTY COOL SCHOOL. Most of my teachers very nice and understanding, and my fellow peers are nice and welcoming. This school deserves way more respect than what it gets. Shoemker is a greats school and i suggest, if your reading this and your confused, you should pick this High School.

As a former student at shoemaker high school I look at all of these reviews and shake my head. I was. Apart of the first freshmen class when the school changed over from the Ellison 9th grade center in 2000. My years at shoemaker were some of the best years of my life a quality education from teachers who cared and I have made life long friends in the process. Many of the reviews I have read are negative and though times have changed and so have the teachers that is a great school to go to and I am proud to call myself a gray wolf. Most of you parents who are complaing about the quality of education need to look back at your own because most of you can't even spell let alone speak clearly. I would deffinately send my children to shoemaker if I still lived in Killeen. Next year is our ten year reunion and I can't wait to be back and see all of my old friends and walk around my old stomping grounds. So in a few words they were the best years of my life and would love to re-live them over again.

This school is just out for itself and the testing shows it. Plus the teachers on disabity board don't have a clue what their doing. The coach on the board says that Texas Disability excuses are no good.So your not suppose to take students to doctors appointment by what he says. Also they have an excuse for everything, saying its the students fault. Then have enough since to send the parents emails and tell them when the students need homework ect.But when the student ask they get told i don't know or don't have anything ready. This has gone on for weeks. THIS SCHOOL IS LOW ON ALL LIST, AND LOW ON PEOPLE WHO MAKE IT OUT OF THE PIT.Send students to another school its worth it.In a meeting i even got told he would get all the work given to him or i could pick it up, 5 weeks and they still give excuses to both of us. Only rated a STAR cause it wouldn't let go on without a STAR

This is by far the best high school I have attended. My interest was engineering and I was able to join the class in 2012 it was amazing in the determination from students and teachers. They have a lab with all the equipment and more to build an award winning robot. When you join you just feel welcome with the friendly faces you will encounter. Go Grey Wolves! Previous student

Although I appreciate the racial diversity at Shoemaker - It seems as though if your not African American then you do not deserve a chance at anything in the school. At first, my 9th grader loved SHS... but after a few weeks, it was clear that my caucasian daughter has not only been shunned by other students, but by coaches and teachers. With the african american population at SHS being extremely high, Caucasian students are treated differently, and not fairly. The coaching staff takes a "if you don't like it, then quit the team" approach to any concerns voiced by students or parents. The bullying at SHS toward Caucasian students is horrendous. My daughter absolutely hates SHS, and begs us every day to transfer her out. We are currently waiting on our home to sell, and move out of KISD and away from SHS (even if it means we commute an hour to work on Ft. Hood). I also think the schools policy of determining who is on varsity sports (based ONLY on age/grade level) is far from fair. Other schools in KISD base varsity level on SKILL, which is how it should be. SHS needs to get with the program, recognize that there is a HUGE racial divide, and do something about it.

I am ok with this school, but there is a problem with the girls soccer team. I think they only scored one point the whole season! Not the girls fault, but the coach. He is friends with his "star" players parents, and the girl is awful, just stands on the field. He should have moved her after the first couple of games, but he sacrificed the whole team because he's friends with her parents. Shameful, and not fair to the actual good players on the team.

Excellent principal, assistant principals, staff, students and teachers. My department is great because the teachers work well together. Although some parents are great, most parents does not register to parent connect to check there children's grades and attendance.

This school has good teachers but the staff from the office to attendance are just there for decoration. Sometimes I wonder how they retain the good teachers because it's like the administration doesn't care. <aybe if they get rid of all the staff thats just there to dress up the place it could be a great school.

just as there are a few bad students who ruin it for the good students there are always some teachers who do the same. Dual credit classes and AVID classes are looked upon as the highest academic achievements while AP students are almost ignored. It can get frustrating especially when the teachers are punished for doing something that an AP class should be able to do.

Administration really needs help! Teachers care or just go along. Those that care are forced into situations where they must comply with individual parental statements (not requests). New administrators that support pro active teachers and support students are necessary for growing success!

Shoemaker could definantly be better. Now, I guess you could say that they are trying to become a better school, especially since they recently hired a College Guidance counselor, but this school still needs some work. Some of the teachers do really care about their students, particularly the ones that teach AP classes, but the students just don't seem to really care about their academics. It's all about what you're wearing and who's fighting who and all that silly teenage jazz. Personally, I cannot wait to go to another high school.

My year at shoemaker was the best year of my life! The dance coach is amazing! Audrey Kosclski. i wish i could go back. They have great freshman teachers, they would accept late work and do whatever to make you pass[even annoy you and call your parents]. But what i dont like is how they reinforce the dress codes because i remember when they stop people with short skirts that are exactly 6 inches above the knee and some other girls wear shorter than that and they dont say anything! but if you've ever been stationed in korea. Then shoemaker is way better in extracurricular activities. They dont even have dance in korea! And the school is much bigger.

I believe that Shoemaker High school is a joke. No one at this school cares about the students rather they are there for a pay check. Unfortunately we are forced to attend this school. Due to the fact that soilders are moved in o the district. I think this is the worst school we have ever dealt with. We as a military family have lived in 9 states. If you are moving here with high school students think twice about where you live. Bottom line is that staff does not care about your childs education. It is all about the bottom dollar.

2 of my children graduated from Shoemaker and I currently have 1 attending Shoemaker as a senior. All I can say is this: My first 2 children got excellent care from the counselors office. Especially the head counselor, Ms Critchfield. Now that she is gone, I am concerned about my last child graduating. The counselors office does not seem to be as capable as it use to be. Overall, it has been a good school. I just wish the really good personnel would not leave!

Shoemaker High School is by far the worst school I have ever attended. The students are irresponsible and disrespectful. There was an incident last year when a student covered a stairway with baby oil. Somebody could have been seriously injured. Theres fights almost everyday over the stupidest reason and teachers don't even try to stop them. I thought that after my first year there it would grow on me but it didn't. My sophomore year was even worse. Now that im in a different high school I realize just how horrible Shoemaker was. I don't recommend anyone to this school.

I am a student at shoemaker high school and i must say i love this school and so happy i picked to go here! The teachers are amazing and so are the kids... Its all on how you represent yourself as a person like at any high school there is going to be a few fights,gangs,drugs.....but thats anywhere you go to... Us kids we have to now take responsiablity for are own actions. Stand up for what we know if we know that are teacher isnt teaching sit down with that teacher and expliain to them what you are feeling. I garenntee they will listen.. but like i said this is an amazing school and growing better each year....So please dont listen to all the rumors and bad stories until you actually been here for a year and in classrooms will amazing teachers and staff...

This is the worst school ever that my child has attended, the principal and the staff does not care about your child, they only want their paycheck, if you care about your children you will not send them to this horrible school. Please do not learn the hard way like we did, listen to other parents and take their advice, I wish I would have. I now have to drive 15 minutes just to ensure my child gets the best education, it's all worth it in the end. I regret enrolling my child in this school. If you truly care about your kids education and their safety do not send them to this school.

Look at the reviews from 2004 thru now, 2007. What started as a great school, is now a mess. Where is the discipline? Where is this zero tolerance? An outside independent auditor needs to go in there and find out what can be done. It is so over crowded, chaos in the halls and as this goes on, the teachers just ignore it. There are a few great teachers, but not many. They are not teaching, they are throwing the work at the students without teaching it. I am very disappointed.

I think Shoemaker is a great school to be apart of. They have some wonderful teachers that are ginuinely interested in the students. But the only thing that is unsatisfactory in my eyes I would have to say the involvement of the counselors. I dont think they are really involved especially in the seniors! I know that they have alot of other things to deal with as well, but it is the seniors last year of school and it would be nice for them to make sure they are on the right track before it is time for them to graduate rather than waiting until the last minute. It is so important that they sit down the seniors and really take the time to go over everything with them to make sure they are set & ready to go.

I think its a great school, for your children, I have 2 children that have already graduated from SHS and one that is a junior, and they love it their. The principal does his job, and the teachers are dedicated to the students, the extracurricular activities are awesome and the parent involvement are spectacular, and give alot to the school. The safety and discipline are great as well this high school makes sure that their students and staff members feel as safe as possible in any way. I would high recomend you send your child to this school.

I have one child at SHS who is graduating this week and a sophmore at Ellison. In my opinion SHS is one of the worst schools ever. My daughter begged me to let her go there her final two years of high school and I regret every minute it. She is a bright girl and is graduating early and has a full ride to The University of Alabama, but the quality of her education compared to the one my son is getting at Ellison pales in comparison. Also, their seems to be little if any discipline at SHS. Most of the children are so out of control that I feared for her safety, but she was determined to 'survive' Shoemaker and she did, but the stories she came home with will stay with me forever.

My daughter entered Shoemaker High School last fall when we moved here from a very different area in terms of socio-economic status and cultural backgrounds. It was difficult at first for her, but thanks to many teachers, administrators and leaders in her school and to her determination, she has flourished. The new principal this year is determined to make positive changes and is doing a great job. 'Rome wasn't built in a day!' I believe there are many opportunities to excel at Shoemaker, from academics to sports to extra-curricular activites. Life is what you make of it and if you want the best out of your education and life, Shoemaker can help you to achieve that. Great job Shoemaker Students and Staff!

Despite all of the awful and negative reviews about Shoemaker, it is, in my opinion, a very fine school and produces some of the brightest and strongest students. Most of the students that attend Shoemaker are military. Almost all of the students have family and/or friends deployed in Iraq. Some have family/friends that die or get injured there. The school handles this tremendously by commemorating these soldiers with blue and silver stars for deployed soldiers and gold for deceased or injured soldiers. The clubs and organizations are very diverse and the parents volunteer frequently and are involved in numerous activities. Also this school has one of the best athletic programs in the state. Many scholarship programs are available to the kids. Numerous students have received athletic/academic scholarships to distingushed Universities in the US.

I went to shoemaker since I was a freshman and I am now a Junior. This past week I recently transferred over to Copperas Cove High School. Shoemaker is such a bad school. The teachers are rude except for the few that don't belong at shoemaker because they are excellent teachers. It was hard to get an education so I switched over. Come to find out there was so many others from shoemaker over there. It is a horrible school and I dont see how a school can educate like that.

Shoemaker is an overall lousy school. My son was an honor student all his life and now all he does is struggle to even comprehend what the teacher are tryin to teach. I have considered pulling him and just home-schooling him the remainder of the year. At least that way he will learn something so he won't struggle at his new school next year. Thank the good lord for that. We won't be in this state for our children to have to endure TAKS this TAKS that every day and be stressed out over it all the time. It's sad our children get threatened if they don't do well on that test. I have never encountered a school district so hung up on testing.

This is the worst school that my daughter has ever attended. There is no control or leadership for the children. The teachers are not professional nor good at their trait, they don't teach. How do you expect these children to pass a TAKS test when there is no teachers to teach anything. The office staff is very unprofessional. I'm very disappointed in this school - I have two children attending (9th and 11th) and the importance of excelling in TAKS is nonexistent. Overall, it doesn't appear the faculty and the students are on the same page. Embarrassingly low scores, I'm debating on moving them to another school.

While there is an outstanding athletic program and this is considered the most studial high school in the area, it's almost as if the discipline and principal leadership are mediocre. And the education is rather good, but the teachers and administration need to start establishing 'I am the adult, you are the child' relationships and installing more morals rather than trying to be the students' friends.

This high school has an excellent integration for their incoming Freshmen. The 'FISH Camp' enabled our new 9th graders to orient themselves around the campus, allowed them to meet each other as well as their upper classmen. The Camp also gave parents the opportunity to meet the principal and a few extracurricular staff members. It was a great experience. My daughter didn't want to attend, but now she's happy that she did and so am I.

I have had 3 children attend Shoemaker HS. I feel that the teachers are amongst the best. The activities director is the best that I have ever seen. She always tries to implement programs and activities that the children are interested in and want to participate in. Although she does not receive the support she deserves from the principal, it is obvious that she does her best and smiles thoughtout it all. The assistant principals are great people also and suprisingly enough, realize that children are children. They do believe in discipline and education is first on their list.(It would be nice if the principal was just as supportive. You will only see her at the school and at Varsity football games and playoffs.) I believe that my children have received the best education available in the area. The support staff and the students make this the best school around.

My daughter graduated from Shoemaker High School this past year. All of her teachers over the past three years were very supportive and encouraged her in everything she did, from choir to calculus. I was a student of SHS for three years, sophomore through junior year. While I had many problems with the administration I was very happy with the level of education I received. As an AP and honors student, I believe I was treated to Shoemaker's finest teachers. Virtually every teacher I had through the years genuinely cared about my progress and state of being. Discussion and involvement was greatly encouraged and multiple points of view always presented. The Shoemaker math department is the best in the district due to wonderful, caring teachers with years of experience. Extracurriculars such as choir and band have won many awards and garnered much recognition over the years. Teachers and staff are very supportive of these organizations as they are of all the students at SHS. In short, while I may disagree with administrative actions, the teachers and students make Shoemaker what it is, a wonderfully diverse community that is always pushing every student to do their best and believe they can do more.
