This school is awful! My child is not able to turn in homework due to teachers not letting him. He told me he raises his hand and asks to turn in homework, the teachers tell him to be quiet and put his hand down. They have a small gym and no playarea. They have science fair Pk-8 which is not good for the little ones who's parents dont help or end up doing all the work for them. Very disappointing.

My daughter has started attending Mainland this school year for the first time. I know its only the second week of school but I'm not happy. They send homework home with due dates but none of her teachers take the homework from the folders. There is a behavior form that was sent home last week. I signed it and returned it the next day. Its been in her folder for over a week. I have received homework from all the teachers except science, social studies, and math which is probably why the standardized testing scores for these subjects are low. I have made several attempts to send emails from the website and they all have come back indicating the addresses are in error. I called to speak with the principal today and I was told she's on vacation. I have never heard of a principal going on vacation the second week of school. Who does that? I appreciate the effort and level of homework and I'm trying to be an involved parent but its almost like they don't want you to know what's going on. I don't know the teachers conference periods and I'm not allowed to ask because I'm not allowed to speak to the teachers. I'm very frustrated. If things change I will come back and write another review.

Well this school provides awesome education in that manner. What is awful about it is that sometimes the teachers are very rude to the children and some may hit the children but the hitting hasn't happened in a while. But the teachers are still sometimes rude.

This is a horrible school .Especially the lunch. They could make it better by having after school exercing classes.I think others should have a chance to watch their children.

The staff is horrible including the teacher's and the principal. I had to take my son out of that school because he was so stressed out about all the homework and the rules in the school and he is only 6 years old. They think their doing a good but they take it to the extreme and make the kids hate school ....sorry but when your only 5,6,7 and 8 you have to have a little fun learning in school not be scared of your teacher's and have 5 different teacher's.

My daughter has been in this school for 3 yrs. The first two were good years, a lot of interaction between parent and teacher and this year all the teachers in her grade level are new and are all recent graduates. They do not interact with parents and seem to have a mind of their own. The work they send home is misspelled many times and the grades we see on progress reports does not reflect the grades of assignments the brings home. I'm very concerned with my child not learning the material she need to and her teachers just changing her grades to reflect a passing score.

Because of the amount of homework, it seems to be a tough school but our kids benefit from it later in life. Not to mention, test scores are proven to be better.

This is an excellant school. with excellant teachers. My child attended this school pre-k thru 5th grade when our family moved. You know the old saying you don't know what you've got until it's gone well that was my situation. This school was heaven. and the teachers like angels they really were concerned about the childerns education. Parent student teacher interaction was a must, because it does take a village to raise a star. So, if your looking for a school with values, teachers with values and high learning standards and you don't mind helping with homework you will love this school.

This is the worst school by-far. When u have meeting with them they seem nice and their best interest is for the children. But then they treat the kids totally diffrent.

My children have been at this school for the past 3 years. They have been blessed with wonderful teachers or I would have pulled them long ago. I have personally watched the school progress in increasing the quality of teachers. A major problem has been the lack of parental involovement, I am shocked at what little concern some of the parents have in their childs education. They expect the teachers to work miracles as they sit by and do nothing to encourage, assist, or be involved with the child or school. If more parents would step up, this school would be 5 star,

Both my son and daughter attend Mainland Prep. My daughter has been a student since Pre-K and will be a 3rd grader for the upcoming school year, while my son is in his second year going to Kindergarten. I must say that this is a great learning enviroment for my children and other children there. At first I was a little skeptical regarding the large amount of Homework early on even for PreK, but as time grow I was sold on the vision of the Superindent and Principal. It starts now. Both my wife and I are extremly involved in our children's academics, and in order for your child to be successful..that is exactly what it takes. The lines of communication are always open there, and the teachers express a great deal of concern for the growth of their students. Mrs. Merchant is an excellent role model and leader! Great School!

I have a second grader at the scool. I feel the school does a great job teaching. The incentive they have is great for making good grades. The kids are taken on private buses to various entertainment and fed lunch. They have lots of different courses for the kids to take. I love the fact he is being taught spanish at an early age. The school is new and kept in great shape.

This is a quality school. I feel there is way to much homework nightly. I didn't particularly agree with 3rd graders changing classes with a total of 7 different teachers but it worked out okay. Each class has its own projects to complete which is demanding. Most of the teachers are committed and concerned about a students progress. The classes are challenging and a student cannot get behind. Overall I am very satisfied with the program. For any child to excel a parent must be involved. There are more extracurricular activities then any one parent would want.

This school is the best opportunity that a child can receive. It is a peice of mind knowing my children have the best resources available to attain the highest education for them. I highly commend Mrs. Merchant and Mrs. Green for all the work they have done to develop this school and provide the best education possible for the children. All schools need to be like Mainland Prep. Billy & Debra Pettis

Excellent program with knowledgeable and caring teachers. Ms. Merchant(Superintendent) and Ms. Green(Principal) are doing a great job with the children. My son has displayed an eagerness to learn and nothing short of greatness since his enrollment. I highly recommend Mainland Preparatory Academy to any and all parents who are concerned about their child's academic growth. Quentin Chavis
