Profile Completeness

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

This school is most likely the worst school I've ever attended in my nearly fifteen years of life. First of all, there is obvious favoritism going on for children who participate in sport's activities and whatnot. Oftentimes, they are undisciplined and allowed to run a muck without any consequences. Also, kids who don't live in the area can easily be thrown out. They don't accept doctor's notes - I was kicked out even when I had many notices from the emergency room telling them I needed to stay home due to my chronic migraines. The entire school is pretty much a huge clique, and if you're not included like I was, you're constantly teased and bullied, which is why my parents actually decided to pull me out of that horrid school. If your child is not heavily involved with sport's activities and you're not rich, don't attend this school and spare your time. I wasted almost five years in that dump and I got no recognition from it. Don't make that mistake.

Klondike ISD is a great school. Has wonderful teachers and kids. Teachers teach so much to the kids.

This school does absolutely nothing about bullying. After confiding in his teacher that he was being picked on, the teacher told him he needed to toughen up. Most definately teachers show favoritism, and in an obvious way. Nearly the whole year is spent teaching to the STAAR test...heaven forbid they lose their high rating. A lot of pressure on the teachers to teach towards the STAAR test. If you have a tough kid, who fits well in cliques, and is an athlete, you'll fit right in at Klondike. Oh, it helps if you can bake several pies, cakes, and buy 20 t-shirts a year to support your school. Go cougars.

Most teachers are involved with students but administration excuses the few teachers who have no concrete lesson plans, leave the classroom unattended, etc. Extra-curriculars are great if sports is your thing. Academically inclined students below high school level will find few activities to engage them. Parent involvement is average. No PTA/PTO but parents are welcome to speak directly to the teachers and administration. It's easy to contact teachers and administration. Not many formal in-classroom volunteer opportunities but many teachers will probably be happy to work with you if you express an interest. Sports boosters is the big parent organization and they are very active. Safety and discipline is mediocre. As mentioned above, some classrooms are left unattended for prolonged times. Bullying is ignored and undisciplined. No recourse for teachers faced with problem students and chronic classroom disruptors. Overall school experience depends on teachers because administration is not cohesive.

Well, there has been some theft. There are several discipline issues. Some teachers have been leaving the classroom and things get out of hand. I should know, I'm in sixth grade. All in all it is not a very good school.

The only thing I can say that's negative is that we do not have baseball in school yet. Excellent teachers, great discipline, super academics

I attended Klondike from K-12 and loved every minute of it. I would recommend this school to anyone moving to the west texas area.
