LHS Killough, the name changed, is an incredible school! The Principal, Mrs. Pam Flores is OUTSTANDING! She truly cares for each & every one of her students. She goes above & beyond anything I have ever seen when it comes to her students. She is very fair with the students & they know that & trust her. When it's business time, she's all about getting it done & making sure the students have the right atmosphere to do their very best. When it's time to have fun, she's the first one out there dancing, leading cheers, kissing pigs & so much more. If there is a student in need, she will do everything she can to help. This is an educator that doesn't just talk the talk, she walks the walk! Mrs. Flores changes lives. We have been blessed to watch her change many of those lives. "Good" kids are easy to motivate, but she finds opportunities for them to grow, to challenge them & encourage that want to be the best they can be. The struggling kids, failing classes, skipping & getting in trouble both in & out of school. So many of those students are making A/B Honor Roll, taking Pre-AP classes, coming to school every day & not getting into trouble. She is ALL about the students & it shows.

Great school with excellent teachers. Provides individualized instruction and a caring atmosphere for some of the district's more challenging students. Test scores are excellent. Administration is excellent. Atmosphere is a can do atmosphere.

About the tests

In 2010-2011, the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) was used to test students in reading in grades 3 through 9; in writing in grades 4 and 7; in English language arts in grades 10 and 11; in mathematics in grades 3 through 11; in science in grades 5, 8, 10 and 11; and in social studies in grades 8, 10 and 11. TAKS is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Texas. The grade 11 Exit Level TAKS is a high school graduation requirement. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.
