Whoever wrote that last review is just mad about something, evidently, as my child has been here for 5 years and I have found that staff and principals (not principles) to be amazing. They are interested in my child as an individual and care about his progress. And YES he has a disability. My guess is that the parents in last comment are mad because their child got in trouble for something and they want to blame the school. Rockbook is a great school.

My child has been at this school since kindergarten and we are now looking to move just to get away from this school altogether. When other parents hear of what my family has been through with this school their jaws hit the floor. This is not a isolated incident by any means as things continue to worsen with each passing day. The principle (not the assistant as she is fantastic) gives the impression (at least to me) that she is not interesting in the best interest of the child/ren but rather her own career. Some office staff speak VERY poorly to parents, even those that are 100% dedicated to PTA and improving the school, that it makes me cringe. If your child has any type of learning disability (ADD, ADHD, Autism, etc) don't waste your time enrolling in this school The school does not give information openly on what they are REQUIRED to provide by State and Federal Laws so brush up on those details!! Keeping the kids quiet is the MOST important thing to this principle. No missed work can be sent home or done after school (even if its excused) so kids get their recess taken away since Study Hall is during recess so don't be surprised when your kid comes home super hyper....

Teachers at Rockbrook Elementary are caring and dedicated to serving all students. Last year, they implemented "Thinking Maps" school wide and it was a great success. The students are thinking critically and developing higher level thinking skills. Amazing school and staff!

My son is getting ready to complete kindergarten, and so far Rockbrook has been great. I've seen him make tremendous gains academically and socially since being here. His teacher has been extremely supportive, and he's really enjoyed being able to learn in new ways (i.e. literacy stations with computers, using an interactive "smart board" etc.). My only critique is that I would like to see the PTA focus on more than just activities and fundraisers. I think there are opportunities there for parents to support academic achievement and have a real impact, but that doesn't seem to be on the agenda.

My kids come home happy and excited every day after school. This school may have a 5/10 rating, but as a parent I am giving this school a 10/10 stars. Great teachers, great curriculum and each teacher wants the kids to succeed. Hats off to a great program. Their special education programs are top notch. We couldn't be happier.

Interesting review. I just stumbled upon this website and decided to look up my child's school. I was shocked to read the review from one of the parents stating there was no information given about helping their kindergartener. I too am a parent of a kindergarten student at Rockbrook and I love the teachers and staff. I distinctly recall receiving a twenty page booklet as well as many other papers outlinging exactly how kindergarten would run and what to expect so that I could prepare my child. My child's teacher also went over many more details and allowed an opportunity for me to ask questions at the parent orientation. I would highly recommend this school to anyone!

Unfortunately, the only people who write reviews are those who are unhappy. I am one of hundreds of parents who are thrilled with Rockbrook Elementary. The staff, teachers and administration are dedicated and caring. They work hard for this school which serves a very transient population with much poverty compared to the rest of Lewisville. Also, test scores have shot through the roof with the new principal. Don't let one naysayer sway you from this great school.

This is the first year for my son at Rockbrook and I have experienced diorganization and lack of communication between office staff. Unfortunalty, the office staff, principal and vice principal are very quick to judge and I feel that since this is an Elementary school for the staff that the children are suppose to look up to and go to for help, this is a huge issue. They should not judge the kids and they need to reivaluate their disciplinary tactics.
