this school is the worst ever! I agree with the person who said "its a prison in disguise". tonight they made me cry when I found out that I didn't get chosen for the talent show because they were only letting 3 kids from every grade level perform in the talent show. the discipline is ridicules and I often see kids cry about it. also the swearing and bullying is crazy. the staff and teachers are very rude to students and teachers. I have spent a total of 4 1/2 years here and can't believe I survived it. I don't recommend this school to anyone.
I detest this school. This is a prison disguised as a school for adults and children alike. Your child is considered to be tardy promptly at 7:50a, and if it happen's too often, you will find yourself in court. paying ridiculous fines and fees. The teachers come straight out of college with no experience, and your children will suffer. They micromanage everything and make good parents doing the best they can look like bad ones, and they could care less about your struggles. I am not renewing my lease at the end of the summer just to be rid of this school. What a horrible mistake, staff, and school. I regret my choice to attend. Don't believe the hype of the reviews, that was 2+ years ago.
My son went to 1st grade here, in 2011-2012. While the school itself was fine, I couldn't help but question the fact that every single note/newsletter/email/form sent home from his teacher had huge mistakes in spelling, grammar and punctuation. She was very kind and patient with the kids, but gosh... spell check, otherwise the parents are going to question your ability to teach their children.
Excellent school , great environment , best teachers always very cooperative I love Rockbrook elementary school. .
We moved to Texas from California and this school was so helpful and accommodating. I really like this school. Look forward to it in the fall. Really liked my daughter's teacher and the entire office staff. This school is great.
My daughter started at this school end of August and i love this school, her teacher is Awesome and the staff is great they really go out of there way to make sure you child/ren are well took care of...THIS SCHOOL ROCK'S!!
Whoever wrote that last review is just mad about something, evidently, as my child has been here for 5 years and I have found that staff and principals (not principles) to be amazing. They are interested in my child as an individual and care about his progress. And YES he has a disability. My guess is that the parents in last comment are mad because their child got in trouble for something and they want to blame the school. Rockbook is a great school.
My child has been at this school since kindergarten and we are now looking to move just to get away from this school altogether. When other parents hear of what my family has been through with this school their jaws hit the floor. This is not a isolated incident by any means as things continue to worsen with each passing day. The principle (not the assistant as she is fantastic) gives the impression (at least to me) that she is not interesting in the best interest of the child/ren but rather her own career. Some office staff speak VERY poorly to parents, even those that are 100% dedicated to PTA and improving the school, that it makes me cringe. If your child has any type of learning disability (ADD, ADHD, Autism, etc) don't waste your time enrolling in this school The school does not give information openly on what they are REQUIRED to provide by State and Federal Laws so brush up on those details!! Keeping the kids quiet is the MOST important thing to this principle. No missed work can be sent home or done after school (even if its excused) so kids get their recess taken away since Study Hall is during recess so don't be surprised when your kid comes home super hyper....
Teachers at Rockbrook Elementary are caring and dedicated to serving all students. Last year, they implemented "Thinking Maps" school wide and it was a great success. The students are thinking critically and developing higher level thinking skills. Amazing school and staff!
My son is getting ready to complete kindergarten, and so far Rockbrook has been great. I've seen him make tremendous gains academically and socially since being here. His teacher has been extremely supportive, and he's really enjoyed being able to learn in new ways (i.e. literacy stations with computers, using an interactive "smart board" etc.). My only critique is that I would like to see the PTA focus on more than just activities and fundraisers. I think there are opportunities there for parents to support academic achievement and have a real impact, but that doesn't seem to be on the agenda.
My kids come home happy and excited every day after school. This school may have a 5/10 rating, but as a parent I am giving this school a 10/10 stars. Great teachers, great curriculum and each teacher wants the kids to succeed. Hats off to a great program. Their special education programs are top notch. We couldn't be happier.
Interesting review. I just stumbled upon this website and decided to look up my child's school. I was shocked to read the review from one of the parents stating there was no information given about helping their kindergartener. I too am a parent of a kindergarten student at Rockbrook and I love the teachers and staff. I distinctly recall receiving a twenty page booklet as well as many other papers outlinging exactly how kindergarten would run and what to expect so that I could prepare my child. My child's teacher also went over many more details and allowed an opportunity for me to ask questions at the parent orientation. I would highly recommend this school to anyone!
Unfortunately, the only people who write reviews are those who are unhappy. I am one of hundreds of parents who are thrilled with Rockbrook Elementary. The staff, teachers and administration are dedicated and caring. They work hard for this school which serves a very transient population with much poverty compared to the rest of Lewisville. Also, test scores have shot through the roof with the new principal. Don't let one naysayer sway you from this great school.
my daughter is in grd 5 we just came from canada this school is great my dayghter is much neater than most of the time
This is the first year for my son at Rockbrook and I have experienced diorganization and lack of communication between office staff. Unfortunalty, the office staff, principal and vice principal are very quick to judge and I feel that since this is an Elementary school for the staff that the children are suppose to look up to and go to for help, this is a huge issue. They should not judge the kids and they need to reivaluate their disciplinary tactics.
My daughter transitioned well from a private montessori pre-school to the kindergarten program @ Rockbrook. My initial concern of the teaching quality (being a public school) turned out to be a non-issue as she has learnt and progressed well in her classes. I couldn't be more pleased.
My son is having some isssues with speach and temperment. We started him with this school to help him. With in 3-4 weeks we have noticed a difference. I am happy that there are schools out there that have this program for development. All the teachers are nice and seem to actually care. Kamisue Morman
Although the school is rated 'academically acceptable by TX state, I have to say the special education team is first-class! My son Andrew is autistic and all the staff there are awsome and caring. Thanks, Ms. Smith and her team!
My son is finishing his first year at Rockbrook, and overall we have not been displeased. He has been safe and cared for, and has become friends with a variety of children. But, 1.)There seems to be a little disorganization in the office (our immunization record was lost and we've been told different ways to handle attendance issues); 2.)The school seems overcrowded (not enough teacher per classroom to handle issues that arise -- disciplinary issues left unaddressed); 3.)Teachers inappropriately handling discipline (I've walked in the main entrance to the school more than one time to see teacher disciplining or correcting students right there. This is not in front of any classroom, or the school office, just in an inappropriate location for all to hear. I would be furious if my son were disciplined here for parents/teachers/students to witness. Rockbrook isn't bad, but there are better in the area, particularly Flower Mound.
Academically this school is not up to the mark in science programs. Have good music, art and sports activities. Has a PTA to keep parents involved.
