Los Fresnos provides excellent athletic and AP opportunities to students. Sports are a huge part of life at the high school, as they tend to define the cliques. Every student is encouraged, and in some cases, required to do steps towards college admission. The counselors are especially helpful. The teaching staff is overall competent, with a few standout teachers, and an equal number that struggle with the English language. The majority of substitutes and maintenance staff struggle or do not understand English. All of the AP teachers are excellent and competent. There are few fights, and there is a certain binding atmosphere in the school that revolves around athletics. In short, Los Fresnos has many opportunities, but the best experience comes from taking challenging courses and participating in at least one sport. All of this combined truly puts Los Fresnos on a different level than any school in the Valley.
I'm very glad that I attend this school.
Los Fresnos students dedicate themselves into their studies, as a parent I transferred my daughter from another school, and my daughter has improved her grades a lot. When my daughter comes home she does not look so stressed out like she use to teachers work with you, and this year 2008-2009 she considers the best teachers she has ever had. No dramas, no stress and that helps the students a lot when the teacher understands the students. Way to go Los Fresnos High School Teachers you are the Best. Thank you for all your support! GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND YOUR FAMILIES!
This is an excellent school. I have had three children attend LFHS, the staff has always gone above and beyond...as a parent you must take the initiative because the school is overcrowded, but the help is there and the questions will get answered if you make the effort to go to the school for any questions or issues. Excellent on academics, great teachers the only downfall would be the support in the athletic department is only for football, all the other sports are not paid much attention to, especially girls sports.
This school and its student council make a parent proud to have their child there!
It is an excellent school, the students really and truely work hard and make an effort to achieve even with minor setbacks, such as the lack of modern resources.
I really like this school is one of the best in the nation and of Texas ( Last time I check) and I really enjoy coming to this school. There is a lot of activities and lots to learn too.
The best public school in the RGV. The data has showed this year end and year out. I'm only talking about public schools. It starts with hiring Alumni who have a vested interest in giving back, in providing the best that they can to their own community.
Los Fresnos high school was the best school I had ever been to although there is alot of secerity around and in the school but its for our the students own protection. Teachers give all they know to make it a fun and learning experience!
Los Fresnos High School is an outstanding school. I have two children attending LFHS and both love their school and their teachers. The principal is caring and has things well under control. Politics and teacher turn-over, as cited by another reviewer, occur at every school and in every school district. It is not unusual to lose 30 teachers in a a 5-A district. Especially when so many teachers are single and are from 'up north.' My wife and I moved to Los Fresnos, in large part, because of the school district.
