Their colour policy is absurd as well my stepdaughter scratched her nose and was asked what the problem was she then replied my nose itched they made her pull her color they have no corporal punishment they don't call the parents to leave work 0 discipline for anything
The school is lacking discipline and structure. The children do not seem to be the priority. The principal thinks there are no problems, so she ignores them all. The teachers won't send problems to the office because the principal won't do anything, so the teachers are stressing out because of the lack of support and therefor the classes suffer. Most of the kids are good, but the few rotten ones ruin it for everyone and no one can or will do anything to help them. There is also a huge lack of communication between the school and parents, even between the administration and teachers it seems as well. As for parent involvement, if the principal likes you then you can help in their group of moms, otherwise it's not even mentioned. They want to keep their circle small. We have been at the school since 1st grade, but each year we watch more people take their kids out of this school. We may be next!
This is one of the best schools my child attended. We moved from out of state, and were impressed with this school. Teachers are great, very passionate about their kids and they provide a feedback to parents. Office staff are always friendly and helpful.
I could not have asked for a better school for my son. He started kindergarten at Cooper West, his teacher was fabulous, and the rest of the staff were caring and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. He cannot wait for first grade. He learned so much, is excited about learning more and can read so well.
I am very unhappy with this school. So much so we will be removing our children from the district. The office staff is very cold and acts as if it is a bother for them to have someone come in. Sadly the discipline is lacking and it seems the kids run the school. Leadership is lacking.
