My daughter is in kindergarten at Trout. The teachers there seem really involved - no matter which teacher is welcoming her to school in the morning, they know her by name and seem genuinely glad to see her. My daughter started the school year in a class with a boy who constantly bullied her. When the school was asked to move her away from this boy, she was in a new classroom within a week. Her teacher is excellent and so involved. Trout has a new principal (since the review that was posted in 2007) with an excellent reputation. I can't give Trout 5 stars because we haven't been with them for a full year yet - I'd like to do another review when my daughter is "graduating" from Trout and compare, but what I have seen so far is excellent.

My kids loved thier yrs at Trout. The Teachers and staff ( all the staff, from Paraprofessionals to Custodial) were great. My children have many great memories from this wonderful school.

My son went to Trout for only a few months. We had moved from one district to this one and changed him to avoid paying out of district fees but quickly decided to move him back and pay the fees to avoid the horrible school situations. I asked calmly to visit with the principal and was not 'allowed' until I saw the teacher whom I'd already spoke with. It was ridiculous. The principal is rude and wouldn't see me. I withdrew him the next day. I hated this school and everything about it. Parents also weren't allowed at class functions. ONLY the room parent can go to EVERY party but nobody else is allowed to participate. Awful school. Sadly.

About the tests

Texas uses Accountability Ratings to indicate the overall performance of each school and district. The ratings are based on TAKS test results, dropout rates for grades 7 and 8 and school completion rates for grades 9 through 12. Schools and districts rated under standard accountability procedures are designated as Exemplary, Recognized, Academically Acceptable or Academically Unacceptable. Schools and districts rated under alternative education accountability (AEA) procedures are designated as either AEA: Academically Acceptable or AEA: Academically Unacceptable.
