Both of my daughters have done very well at JL Lyon, the staff and teachers are amazing and really care about each and every student. We moved from another district where my girls were struggling, they are now both on honor roll and love to learn.

This school used to not have a very good reputation, but in the last several years it has excelled. It has gone from academically acceptable to exemplary in only 2 years with its new leadership. My son has reading problems and the staff has gone out of their way to help him. We also have the best PTO on the planet that helps with everything. I'm just sorry that my son will be moving on to the 6th grade next year. I'm certainly going to miss everyone at J. L. Lyon!

I love Lyon Elem. I love the principal, asst principal and all the staff on board. They have given to me and my child top priority in school needs. I am very very impress with each member at Lyon Elem. I believe the child will do as much as the parent does. I dedicate all my time to my child and with the help of his teachers he has accelerated to an outstanding student at this school. I thank you Lyon Elem. for all your hard work for me and my son.

My child has gone to this school going on 6 years.. I am very please with the school. My child is a child with a disability and the school has been wonderful with her. The principal and the teachers are just a blessing. We will not take our child out of this school.

I do not feel that the school district is doing everything it can to help those children in danger. Such as reading, riting and rithmatic. The 3 r's that we all learned in school. The teachers are given a list that they are to follow and are afraid to venture off the path. I feel that my daughters years were wasted in 1st grade, her first attempt at 2nd grade and summer school is a waste. Don't waste your money to get your child help to get them moved to the next grade level, because it won't help. I'm glad we have new principals, ok, now let's see what you can do with our children. Get them the help they need and teach the teachers how to teach a child that doesn't fit the normal mold that they want every child to fill.

I am apalled at some of the way the teachers teach. When my child was in first grade, I had a great experience and thought the curriculum quite extensive from what I remember from when I was a little girl. However, second grade my child was bored and thought he was doing fine until he got to third grade where I was told he was failing. No consistency exists in 2nd grade and too much pressure in 3rd grade. I did not find out until the end of 2nd grade that my child wasn't doing well; even though report card inidicated Bs and Cs. There has been a high turnover rate in 2nd grade, as well. I did not appreciate his third grade teacher yelling at him that he was not going to pass.
