My son has been attending Taylor Elem since he was in 1st grade, in my opinion, Taylor has gone from being a good school to an Excellent School. The new principal, teachers and students have been doing an awesome job. Taylor is a TEA Recognized school and I am PROUD to say my son attends Taylor Elementary.

I'm shocked everyday my child comes home, the school system in this city is embarrassing to say the least. It seems the focus of the MISD is to ensure over 90% of their students are labeled "Hispanic" to get extra funds from the government (I was actually asked to put that my child is Hispanic by the school even though I'm White), and their secondary focus is test scores. The teachers and students at Z. Taylor Elementary have proved themselves to everyone this 2008-2009 school yeah. They became a TEA Recognized school again with the highest scores in the district coming only a few points shy of Exemplary status! I love the dedication the teachers of Z. Taylor put into helping every child on campus! They deserve great recognition.

Teachers are great, but it appears to me that TEA has got them in a pressure cooker. They are going so fast through the lessons that there is no time to go back to see if children are learning the basics. What next in second grade? Pre-Algebra? Physics?--Reading 9-10th grade material with a general understanding of the passage. Joe
