This school is amazing! Thank goodness there is a strict dress code. All students and parents know the rules and dress codes before they enter that school. My son had to follow the dress code and he knew what was and wasn't expected of him. I feel the parents should respect the administration. You will NOT find better teachers.
this school is a great school for both academics and athletics the teachers and coaches help one person to help the whole school
The administration at this school needs to focus more on education and less on arbitrary dress code infractions.
This a great middle school and hands down the best in Mesquite. Teachers, coaches, and administrators are awesome. I would not want my child anywhere else.
Kimbrough has some of the best teachers in the profession. However, after coming from a wonderful elementary that encourages parent involvement and actually values parents, I've felt as though the administration would rather not have parents around. Often you feel as though you are interrupting them if you need to discuss something or get your child for early release. Not such a warm welcome in the front office. This is also my second child to come through the school and not much has changed in the 4 years.
My children attend this school. I can't say enough about how hard the teachers work and how caring they are toward their students. The administration is wonderful! They are very easy to work with and very open and willing to work with parents and students.
The special education program at this school is beyond compare. Ms Blair and Ms Finch are the most caring and helpful teachers I have ever encountered. The Administration does leave something to be desired. They care only about each other and not the self esteem of the students.
I've had 3 kids go through this school, all straight A and/or honor students. The teachers for the most part are excellent with two glaring exceptions. Unfortunately, the administration is only there for the teachers and not for the students. Their main objective is to back up teachers whether or not the teachers are treating students right. These administrators act like drill sergeants instead of treating students with respect. Unless a student has been in trouble they should not be treated like they are trouble-makers. They treat all students like they are bad kids instead of giving them the benefit of the doubt. I hope I can get out of this district before my last child has to deal with them. Poteet has been wonderful for my 2 children that have gone through there. They are respectful and fair in the way they treat the kids.
Both my children went to Kimbrough and until this year I have been very pleased. The teachers are highly skilled and work hard to bring out the best in each child. The problem is not with any of their teachers, but with the administration including the Principal and 8th grade Assistant Principal.
While I think that most of the teachers at this school were good, I do not think the school went (when my children attended there) far enough to prevent bullying. It seemed that they turned a blind eye to it even while knowing that middle school is typically the educational stage in which most bullying occurs. There were some very caring teachers and some who seemed to just want to socialize with those students deemed 'popular'. It appears, however, that this is the case in just about every school. I must say that I was relieved when my children moved up to Poteet.
My son has ADHD and the people at this school have been excellent in trying to help me get him the help that he needs to make it to the next level. Thanks to this excellent staff of teachers, counselors, etc. we have received the help needed.
I have sent two children to Kimbrough and am about to send a third. I can't imagine sending my child to any other middle school in the district. The administration, staff and teachers all have a genuine concern for the students. The teachers work very hard to prepare the students for high school. The coaching staff is very open and willing to talk to the parents about any concerns and do an outstanding job of teaching the athletes, not just about the athletics, but the responsibilities that go along with being a student/athlete.
Kimbrough Middle School is an excellent school. My son attended a few years ago and now my daughter is in her last year. The teachers are wonderful and care very much about the teachers. This school makes the transition for kids coming from elementary to middle school very easy. The honor classes are wonderful! I have nothing but good things to say about this school.
I have now had 2 of my 3 children attend Kimbrough. This is a really good school I think. The only thing that I have had a problem with is that my son has ADHD and there are a few teachers that don't really understands what it is or how it works. They really aren't willing to learn about it either. They rather just put the kid in ISS instead of trying to help them control them selfs. The coaching staff has been absolutly wonderful. They are really , really good in the way they prepare the children for the High School sports. The office staff is wonderful as well. Oh, back to the teachers, I was only refering to a few of them. Most of them are very, very wounderful.
