Dallas Christian School

As the last person said the ECLC department is lacking tremendously. The principal is rather rude. If you ask any of the teachers to show you the curriculum they are using not only is it very outdated it's ineffective. The building isn't even a real school building it was originally a dormitory. The building is very old. Not to mention when I went to visit a skunk was under the building and nothing was being done for a while about it. A staff member is the one who told me this information. The school is very good about making the school logo and uniforms sharp also their website but it's a joke. I gave this school a rating of 2 stars because of the curriculum. That is what is suppose to be the most important factor along with God. And this school seems to really show there's no money for any new materials. Given the cost of $10,000 a year more less you really are better off sending your child somewhere else.

My son has been at this school for the past 3 years, and I am really upset with the leadership and teaching skills of the ECLC department. As another parent posted there is a very obvious concessions and privileges that are only extended to a select group of children and families by the principal and teachers, and I cant stop but to notice as well that all the kids that are in the inner circle always get the better of the teachers and academic attention. My son s 2nd and 3rd teacher at best can be described as ready to retire, with no love of teaching left in them. He will not be going to DC next year ! ! ! Given the High cost "est. $10,000 a year" this School is average with a Very Heavy Price Tag

Outstanding! Dallas Christian creates a community for your child, not just a curriculum. I have had kids in all grades at DC, and they have all had a wonderful experience. The school sets a high standard for its students, both in academics and personal conduct, but the teachers are loving and caring, and devote themselves to the needs of every child. The school is big enough to offer a wide variety of quality programs, but small enough that kids can play multiple sports, and participate in a variety of activities, including mission trips. Students get a consistent message of the importance of Christian service and kindness. Students emerge well-rounded and with the formative experience of a loving community behind them. DCS is unique among Dallas-area schools.

The constantly changing leadership at DC is a mess. The current, is either milk toast or grossly biased. Obvious concessions and privileges are extended to a select group of children and families by the principal and faculty. Some of the teachers seem upset and assaulted if you ask them questions about the curriculum or tutoring. The strict school dress code is applied to most, not all. If your child faces a bulling or mean girl situation, the principal and faculty are zero help, your family s status will determine the amount of assistance you will receive. The point of sending your child to a private Christian school goes beyond the cost and academics, it is about their soul being supported and nurtured by likeminded Christians. If you have a child that is not athletic, or one that does not fit the cookie cutter mold, you should look into a different school.

The academics in the high school are average, which is a disappointment. I feel the school needs to offer more of a challenge to the high school students. There is no leadership,no backbone when it comes to discipline; threats to do not scare the children into behaving, which has been my experience of the high school. I am looking forward to seeing if the new president will step up with a no tolerence attitude when it comes to enforcing the rules and that applys to students and teachers alike. If you are considering DC because it is a private school, as far as the high school, public might be just as best.

Our daughter attended DC for the first time last year in their PreK3 program. She absolutely loved it and enjoyed getting up every morning to go to school and see her friends and teacher. She learned the months of the year, the days of the week, bible stories, how to spell and write her name, etc. She just can't wait to go back for PreK4. It's a pleasure to have our daughter come home and talk about how much she loves her teacher, then to recite the Pledge of Allegiance and sing a new song. I truly feel that she is loved and cared for as much as she loves and cares for her school. It's great to know that she attends a school where her friends are being brought up in Christian homes and with similar values and morals. I hope that she is able to attend through High School.

Our daughter went to DC as a kindergartener and is now a first grader. And she is flourishing! She loves her school and loves learning, so much so that she frequently says she wants to be a teacher at DC and have her own children attend there. DC's academic rigor and superb resources are beautifully balanced with professional, credentialed teachers and staff who genuinely love the children in their charge. The resources, technology, and wide variety of subjects have resulted in our six-year-old daughter s reading with ease, doing math in her head, and speaking Spanish. She's proficient on the computer and navigates it with ease. She loves science, history, and social studies, and enjoys her music and piano classes. As well, she loves sports and being physically active (basketball, soccer, gymnastics, T-ball). DC is outstanding and we are so pleased to have our child enrolled there.

We have found the academic programs to be average, and that there are not many opportunities in enrichment programs. Given its high cost, I would rate it average. The school seems to way over emphasize its athletics programs, which tends to isolate the children who are not athletically inclined. This is a Christian school, but we were surprised by the media (movies and music especially) that the kids were allowed to watch and listen to by their parents. We just got the impression that many (but certainly not all) of the parents who send their children there do it primarily because they want to avoid the public schools, not necessarily because it provides a sanctuary from some the dark sides of secular life. I will say, however, that we felt our child was very safe there, and that the teachers and staff genuinely care for the students and their success.

I found the quality of academic programs are lacking especially in high school. Very expensive for what you get - the system is closed for new volunteers
