excellent music, art, sports, and extracurricular, very diverse student body

This school has great teachers, but I will say that there are many students here that are rough. There are many discipline problems, and the atmosphere at this school is a bit chaotic. Things are much calmer at all of the other high schools (I am a substitute teacher). The best schools are Poteet and North Mesquite, but Poteet far outweighs North.

My daughters comments have been that some of the counselors don't seem to willing to help or guide for preparation into college. THere have been some communication issues with administration/school in general. Horn was an excellent school in my opinion the first 2-3 years. Now it's okay. I belive having uniforms has helped. Drinks are too expensive for students.

altho my concern is not necessarily about the items above,but the price & quality of food. It is terrible that a school child averages $4./day.Ridiculous! Soft drinks went from bottles to cans which obviously contain less product, but the price stayed the same. The teachers lounge has the bottles that the kids used to get but the price is cheaper in the teacher's lounge for more product. This is NOT right. School lunches are expensive as it is. When the kids are being given less product be it the food portions or a cold drink out of the can, the parents should not be being ripped off. Perhaps mydaughter should start purchasing her bottled drink in the teacher's lounge.
