This school is top notch. Teachers are knowledgable and considerate. I get phone calls from the teachers if my child isn't feeling well even when no one else notices. Yes, standards are very high. But shouldn't they be? My child has received a fantastic education from Bowie as well as excelled in all her fine arts. She can play piano, dance, and make art masterpieces. The older grade teachers know their subjects and content thoroughly. My child has never been bullied by a teacher and if a student says something to her that is inappropriate, it is handled immediately. The teachers show their compassion and their hard work never fails. I am appalled by the negative comments of a few parents on here. I wish the people that had positive things to say would reach out. This is an amazing school - ask any educator in Midland.
In the younger grades the homework was very little. In the upper grades homework became about 30 mins a night all together. I think that is reasonable for kids going in to middle school that may have more homework.
In a school where the principal and teachers bully the children, it's not possible to develop honesty, integrity, and fairness to the students. Children learn by seeing and then imitating what they see.
It's a chaotic mess. Teachers leaving, office staff messing up with record keeping, constant rule changes and favoritism. MISD needs to take a long hard look at what is going on within this school. We left and are thriving in our new school.
