Lamar Elementary is a wonderful school. My Grandson attended this school for his 1st grade year. His teacher Mrs. Hammond was an excellent teacher as well as a role model . The Principle also was a great leader for the whole school and on a one on one basis with our family. Thank you to all Lamar staff

I think this school district is a joke. Maybe it is the teacher my daughter had in Kindergarten, but it was like a daycare. Her old school district was so much better. She never had any work that she brought home that they did in class, and everytime I walked into that class the kids were doing whatever they wanted...

I have only worked at this school a year, but it is the best school I have ever worked at. The principals have every child's best interest at heart and they treat their staff extraordinarily well! I feel blessed to be part of the Lamar Elementary Family.

I think Lamar is a great school with a wonderful staff and I am glad that my son attends this school. One thing that does concern me though, is that he has not been able to go on any field trips. He is in Pre-K.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

The test results by subgroup show how the designated group of students is performing in comparison to the general population.
  • In 2010-2011, this school was rated "Academically Acceptable".
  • In 2009-2010, this school was rated "Recognized".
  • In 2008-2009, this school was rated "Recognized".

About the tests

Texas uses Accountability Ratings to indicate the overall performance of each school and district. The ratings are based on TAKS test results, dropout rates for grades 7 and 8 and school completion rates for grades 9 through 12. Schools and districts rated under standard accountability procedures are designated as Exemplary, Recognized, Academically Acceptable or Academically Unacceptable. Schools and districts rated under alternative education accountability (AEA) procedures are designated as either AEA: Academically Acceptable or AEA: Academically Unacceptable.
