We have been greatly disappointed with John H. Shary. Children act out constantly because they are bored. There is very little variation in the education. The majority of the year social studies is skipped over because the state doesn t test the students on that subject in elementary school. PE and Music are the only reprieves the children have from the mundane classrooms. In music they learn math and science songs to help them perform better on the TAKS.

The staffs are terrible with the parent. They all act like they own this school. They have no respect for anybody. I have to teach my kids at home to prepare for school. I hope the teachers in this school need to work harder!

I have two children in this school. A 1st grader and a 5th grader. Both are doing exceptionally well and the instructors are very helpfull. Mrs. Roche is a great first grade teacher and the academic program she uses really surprises me when my child asks over the top questions. My 5th grader is involved in extracurricular UIL activities. Music and art are among them. These activities are well structured and enforce teamwork among students. As far as parent involvement all I can say is that they organize several activities where parents are encouraged to participate, such as volunteer work and picnic outings with the children on their lunch break.
