I have a granddaughter that goes to Canyon High School... she informed me today that she could not eat because her lunch account was negative $6.00. I am a Cafeteria supervisor for a school in Ft. Worth and would never allow a student to go hunger. As I am sure you know the importance of eating to learn. I offer a PBJ and milk if the account is negative because I do not want any child to be hungry. Sad thought that this is being allowed in an school!

I really wanted to give my recent alma mater a perfect score, but that just isn't the case. Bullying and securtiy is not an issue between students, Every student will fall into some type of category and fit in. 95% of the teachers there are more than willing to help you as long as you ask. That being saidmost are quite partial to people in athletics. The staff that doesn't teach though is terrible. If you want anything done there or a question answered, then either wait 6 years or have a parent do it for you. No respect.

Great academics and test records and a broad range of classes that are challenging and apply for University credit.

Could be better. My son has Asperger and one of the Principles treated him as if he should just "get over it" and I was treated badly by this man until I brought another man in with me for our meetings. There are a handful of great teachers/counselors there, but there are some bad ones too. Also, bullies that get away with stuff while the innocent kids get punished. And some staff are rude. One tried to tell my to not drop my child off in a safe place because it wasn't the "proper place" and I told her we were there LONG before the school opened and I was not going to drop my child off among construction workers. No common sense with these people. I highly recommend Band Department, though!!

My child has been in CISD for 12 years and will be a senior at Canyon. I find many of the teachers and administration to be very rude. They seem to have two sets of rules and dress codes depending on who you are (athlete or cheerleader). Their girls sports programs are extremely competitive and basically your child has to seek outside training at an early age to learn the skills because they do not teach them in the school. My child loves the school - not sure why - because I loathe it. Graduation will be bitter sweet.

We are very happy with CHS. Two of our children have graduated with honors and excelled in college. The school has good/caring teachers and principals. Excellent extracurricular programs if the children want to get involved. I never heard our children even mention bullying.

Some of the staff is very rude. We are ex military and my kids changed schools frequently but this is the worse school we been in. Nobody seems to care about anything. I never get a straight answer to anything, not much is done about bullying, they took my daughter out her pre ap class without telling me or her.....I could go on and on......bottom line....I feel it is not a safe place for my daughter and I am seriously considering taking my daughter out.

We are new to the area and my son attends this school. He feels very comfortable with all of his teachers, and they have a new principal who used to be my son's jr high principal in another city. Teachers are very responsive to my son's needs and supportive. My son likes the relaxed atmosphere and has not encountered any issues from being the 'new kid' in school. So far, so good! The school is undergoing additional renovation.

satisfactory I see no personal involvement from teachers. Shouldn't they identify and notify a parent if a student is failing?

As a former student, and witness to the steps this campus takes to ensure safety and security in trying times, I can honestly say that this school is doing a good job educating kids despite enormous population growth Rules and policies are reviewed and revised every year by the scool board in response to new issues. My overall experience was good and my first two years in university were made all too easy thanks to the edcucation I recieved at this high school.
