Canyon Middle School is so awesome! Teachers are great. Students are friendly and nice. We don't have any gangs in this school. Students are disciplined and you don't have to worry or be scared when you're moving to this school. Now, I'm in 8th grade and I'm going to miss this school. I wish all the schools in the U.S. are like Canyon Middle School. Teachers do their best to help you pass all your course and. When it comes to TAKS(Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills), students and teachers prepare for it and take it seriously. This school is also very clean. And, there's a lot of sports you can play here(volleyball, basketball, football, tennis, cheerleading, etc.). I'm really going to miss this school. Go Jaguars!

Great learning environment with less pressure on being great test takers and more emphasis placed on learning your subject. I am so happy that my son had an opportunity to attend Canyon Middle. It brought back the joy of school (and learning) for him. His 7th grade teacher made the largest impact on his learning years than any teacher he has had to date. Kids can relax and learn and not worry about safety. You feel at home. My thumbs up for Canyon Middle School!

Pretty decent. It seems that this year, the teachers are taking a more active role in reaching out to the parents. Last year emails and calls went ignored.

About the tests


In 2012-2013, the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) was used to test students in reading and math in grades 3 through 8; in writing in grades 4 and 7; in science in grades 5 and 8; in social studies in grade 8; and end-of-course assessments for English I, II, and II, Algebra I and II, biology and US History. STAAR is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Texas. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.

The different student groups are identified by the Texas Education Agency; if there are a small number of students in a particular group, the state doesn't report data for that group.
