My child has only attended this school for only one semester so far and I can not wait to move away from this school. Absolutely NO parent involvement! My child attended another school last year in the same district and we had the BEST experience both parent and student wise for our first year! Love the district, hate this school. I'm a very involved parent and do everything possible in my power to stay very involved in my childs school career. This school could care less and sometimes makes it impossible to do so. I'm also a parent who knows that my child is not perfect, but do what I can to help correct any situation that may get out of hand, but you have to have communication with your child's teacher for that and here is none! I've never even seen the principal or know their name!
My son has been a student at this school for 5 years now and his father also attended this school as a child. Overall, I believe this is one of the best public schools in the area. Our satisfaction over the years has varied though from teacher to teacher. My only complaint is a lack of music and arts programs as a requirement for students, but this seems to be a problem in almost all public schools now. That aside, I would highly recommend this school over other elementary schools in the area.
A M Aikin Elementary is a great school. They really care about teaching. My son has learned so much since he has been going there.
It is a good school. Academics programs are strong. availability of music and art, sports are not very strong. I can say it is a good school though. Parent involvement in one class was very strong. In the other one is was very weak. The TAKS testing was great.
