Very bad experience with teachers and administrators. They basically try to criminalize children at this school, kick them out, and send them to the alternative center. The paperwork is never followed through with after many many emails. It is very frustrating talking to people in charge of school only to receive lip service. Turned in several complaints to administration downtown only to be referred back to these people. The counselor their speaks to the children without respect and as if the children are a nuisance to her. The website for the school is not up to par when compared with the other schools. The school events are not posted on the website calendar. The teachers do not post at least one grade weekly on the tx connect website. One problem after another. and one excuse after another. The administrators at the school will not take Accountability for anything. only after calling the superintendant did I finally get the problems with corrections for the grades corrected. They should fire all the teachers and administrators and make this a 9th grade school only. I hate this school.
this is the worst school ever. mydaughter goes here and has never been in any trouble till now...the principal has even made a treat towards my child and so far the school distric has done nothing about it. i will be removing my daughter from this school....if you dont have to do not send your child to hood.
No,Hood is not the best school but it is deffinatly not the worst.Ectore,Bonham and Bowie are way worse than Hood.Don't judge us on our name or the people in it.They're some vary great teachers at this school and we have an awesome princible who actually cares about us.We have a great music program too.If your kid wants to pass they will pass with flying colors because the teachers only help students that want to be helped.Im in 9th grade and im vary happy I didnt move schools.
This is the absolute worst school in Odessa Texas. I am a hands-on parent and have called to talk to many teachers along with the principal. Only 2 of my daughter's teachers have shown any type of actual concern. My emails have been ignored time and time again. I have talked to the principal and the assistant principal just to receive lip service. My daughter's education is important to me but it is overly obvious that Hood Jr High School principal is either scared or just doesn't care. I am transferring my daughter ASAP!! The school is below the average in the state for tests scores. In actuality, the school is failing and Mr. Almond sent out letters to all parents informing us of how poorly his school really is. Sad... very sad. My personal note to the principal: STEP UP AND TAKE CHARGE.
Do not send your child to hood jr high!! the principal doesn't care. A lot of fighting in this school. Teacher's do not respond to emails. Failing on state scores.
Hood is a very good school. I had heard a lot of bad things when my daughter was getting ready to go to junior high but it has been a great experience the past 2 years. She is in 9th this year and of course every school has it's problems, after all it is full of teens, but nothing that isn't taking place at the other junior highs. The teachers are great and principals are great. If more parents would get involved in things at the school, it would be even better!
This is one messed up school. It needs alot alot alot of help. Yes i'm an ex-student of this school but now that i've been exposed to other schools. I know Hood needs alot of help in everything thing except muysci.
The music dept. is great.Although the rules ®ulations are off the wall. The teachers are wonderful and very educated though.
