As of this year, I am an 8th grade student at FJH. It is a great school, with fantastic teachers. It also has great staff and athletic programs. Getting our knew principal last year, was really good. The dress code has been relaxed, which means we can now wear hoodies, zip up our jackets, etc.The classes are great, and the teachers teach you a lot. They are willing to help out, whenever you need it. I definitely recommend this school! Go Vikings!
FJH has seen its better days. The new administration's entire focus seems to be on getting the lowest acheivers to pass TAKS so the school can get its beloved rating higher, with no regard to the other 90% of the student body. Instead of receiving GT or higher classes, my daughter will spend her spring tutoring 'subgroups' to help them pass their test. How about paying her if you are going to use her as a tutor!! The best teacher my daughter ever had left FJH last year in disgust...I don't blame him. Overall, the faculty is outstanding, the facilities are excellent, and while students who need help should get it, the overall focus needs to revisit the needs of most of the students, not just the few students who may not pass their state test.
Fairmont is a great school with caring teachers.
