As a former employee & mom of 2, I will tell you that Holy Highway is AWESOME! HH gives a time of separation for the girls from their current destructive environments/behaviors. They teach and minister what some parents never 'get' in their own lifetime, much less are able to teach to their children. YES, it's hard to be away from your children and to have limited access for a season...but isn't that what was happening to a much more unhealthy degree BEFORE she was sent to HH. It's necessary to limit communication to keep from hindering any progress, and teaching girls to be grateful for the little things (i.e. time w/parents). In order to fill a tank with goodness and wholeness you MUST start with a clean tank. In order to do that it takes a
I was a student at Holy Highway. The school was great but they can make a lot of changes.Such as more 1on 1 if a student is needs help. More understanding there studys. less staring at a computer. Then it would be great. :)
my daughter got a lot from the program here. It is tought being away from your child on both the child and the parent, but it is a needed part of the process to get the child to take ownership for making choices in thier life that are not self distructive. I was not happy that there wasn't horse back riding as I was given the impression there was, but the self pace school was very good and allow 'catching up' or accelated education. The staff is open to the parents. the program is well structured for the girls. Faith is an important part of the process and the leadership is frank about that.
My daughter is at Holy Highway now and I know that she is in the best place possible. With many difficulties in life she needed to have a time of refuge to get her mind renewed and to learn who she is in the Lord. With the world's distractions and negativity some children need a time away and she is receiving love from many people there. At home she was depressed, and a disruptance to her younger siblings. Through the worlds ways wanting to medicate her I knew she need a chance to heal and see she is a good person. I would choose Holy Highway again and agiaub abd agaain because some girls have things happen to them that cause them to have self rejection and at HH they can learn to handle pain and accept God's love.
I was in the program and it changed my life.
As a former student and a mother of two, I would strongley discourage sending your children to Holy Highway. There are numerous reasons why this facility should not exist much less be considered an alternative to raising your own child. Spending quality time with your daughter and really listening to what she is saying is far better than isolating her with the staff at these facilities.
I am a former student and I am so grateful to have had the oppurtunity to go there. I completed two school years in one year and was able to learn how to build long lasting relationships with God and my family. Discipline, God, and education are their top priorities.
this was the best school I ever attended. the staff were excellent and the learning environment superior in the class room.
This school is exactly what young wayward girls need. My daughter graduated from this program and has returned as a dorm mom to give back to Christ for what she received. One of the reasons many of these girls are in the place they are in life is due to their families. It is a necessary part of recovery to separate them from negative influences on their lives in order to re-build their trust, confidence and wisdom. Holy Highway gives them a chance to start over with a new sense of who they are in Christ and how special they each are. Parents are as involved as they need to be with the teachers and staff and the visits and calls become more frequent as the child progresses. I whole heartedly support their doctrine and discipline (i.e. - training) of the girls. They receive more true love here than most places.
Holy Highway is an excellent program built around dicsipline (with love) and integrity. If it was not for Holy Highway I would not be a 'funcitonal' adult. Although, my time at Holy Highway was difficult, it was an effective and necesary tool that taught me about the importance of life's truth. I thank God every day that I was 'succluded' from the world's negative pull on my life, and that I have had the chance to build characteristics in my life that are of substance and of worth. I highly reccomened Holy Highway as a place that promotes the kind of integrity and virtue that has been lost in todays society.
