This is an excellent school. I have my son in 4th grade. PISD parents portla is also very communicating and informative for parents.

Our child has an interesting mix of academic brilliance and social delays. We have been pleased with how the school has worked to help our child in both areas. Extra academic challenges as well as individual interventions to assist our child socially. We had considered private school, but we felt that we could not get this same education and concern at any price. This school is truly excellent.

I have one child that attends Shepard. Have been generally satisfied with Shepard. Not going to candy coat to help drive up property values. The truth is what makes improvements. pros: - Experienced teachers - Involved Parents are the Rule - Very Involved Principal - School's Good Physical Condition cons: - Staff's not always going to be straight with you. - Unapproachable Principal - Teacher dress standards are low. Jeans, t-shirts, and flip-flops do not ring well. Closed-toe would be better. - Quite diplomacy that goes on in getting the right teacher or into the right programs. - Parents' concerns/complaints seem to be ignored or are not properly addressed-- placation. - Weird 'Round 'em Up' end of day student departure system. Walkie Talkies, orange vests, made it seems like the kids were being cattle herded. Best to go via walk-up mode.

The quality of the academic programs are great. My daughter needed extra help in math and tutoring was available after school twice a week. The music, art and sports are well developed programs that challenge the students. There are also programs and clubs that encourage leadership/good citizenship in the students. Parent involvement is outstanding. The PTA create alot of the extracurricular activities, fundraisers and family events. We have only been at Shepard for two years but they we fun and enjoyable. All of the teachers show a great concern for the students.
