I agree this school is ran like a prison. The school day ends at 2:50 yet walker dismissal is approximately 3:00-3:10pm. This is not fair to the parents and children who want to walk home. Walkers are not allowed to leave until 10-20 minutes after school has dismissed and the car riders are gone. This is the only school in Frisco that detains students simply because they are walking home. We are told that it is for the child's safety. Children thought Frisco, Allen and Plano are dismissed at 2:50 and they are safe. Why is it at Borchardt the children are not safe unless they are detained for 20 minutes.

I was so excited to see my child start this school, in the beginning. However we have had several issues with the teacher. She is unwilling to help resolve any issues or offer any ideas that may help my child. She just doesn't care. No concern on her part. I could list several other complaints regarding this teacher along with several others. This school is absolutely horrible. I read one review that said it is ran like a prison. That person was 100% correct . My child has never been so unhappy and honestly I think my child is depressed because of this teacher/school. Not sure exactly what the problem is but we are working on figuring it out at this time. I never would have thought my child's first year of school would be so traumatic . I couldn't be any more unhappy.

This school is good for appearances only. It resembles a jail more than an elementary school. The principal is hardly on campus and its hard to get hold of her. From the people at the front office you can tell they are rude, because there is no good management. It might be OK for the firts year but in the higher grades the teachers cannot handle the kids. When we left the school there were many teachers leaving as well. Principal needs tto get her act together.

We left this school after our children had been in it 1 year. Having moved from an area w/ AMAZING academics, this school made me question the high scores it receives. Your child will do great if they are a teacher's favorite. But for the rest of the students, it's unfair! This particular school focuses almost ENTIRELY on the standardized testing... not in a fashion that the children are learning, more so, memorization. There are many issues with this school, including the principal's lack of knowledge/care about what truly goes on. After a conference (or 3), we soon realized that we would not get anywhere. Several of the teachers we encountered need cameras in their room. Many of the teacher talk down to the kids. In music the kids didn't sing much, only learned about famous musicians/names of instruments. In art, my children never seemed to do actual art work, but instead learned about famous artists/types of art. This school may seem great to those whom have never experienced a truly wonderful school, but for those who have, watch out! We moved and now attend Smith Elementary (another frisco school), and it was the BEST MOVE EVER! SMITH is an AMAZING SCHOOL!

This school is great!! We have been here for 3 years and haven't had any issues at all. The staff is helpful, respectful and truly cares about the kids. My kids love their teachers and truly learn from them. This school makes the kids feel like part of a community family. The children are taught to respect each other. Like any school, they take pride in their test scores - but any school that does well on testing is going to. We seriously could not ask for a better school for our kids to attend.

The school has high ratings because of TAKS. I think there is too much emphasis on the TAKS score and I don't know if my child is really really learning the foundation. We only have parent teacher conference once a year. In my opinion, this is not enought. It would be nice to see if my child has improved academically from the Fall semester to Spring semester. In PISD, the teachers meet with the parents twice a year and they seem more genuine and deeply interested in my child's educational career. I have regrets for putting my child in FISD school

AMAZING school.....this is our last year at Borchardt(our youngest is in 5th) and it saddens me greatly. Both of my children have been so happy at this wonderful school. The teachers truly care and really instill a love of learning in the students. THANK YOU to the staff and administrators at Borchardt Elementary for everything!

Very good school and very happy with the level of the education,We moved not while ago and had an experience in a Charter school, I can say that the education here is excellent! about security, I think that the peolple need to use the crossiwalk, overthere was the same, the parents were force to use them! is for our kids safe!

Terrific school! My kids are very excited to go and learn every day. They love their teachers, their classes, and their classmates. We've been there for a number of years and have always loved it. I'd like to comment on the 1-star rating parent: 1) The school does put emphasis on TAKS as ALL schools in this area put emphasis on it...this is driven from the state! 2) I have alot of artwork that my kids have brought home from Borchardt..just framed a bunch for their walls in fact. 3) Cross walks were made for a reason and the school is very concerned for our kids safety. We all should follow the rules they set and be a good role model for our kids. Although it may not be illegal, it is unsafe.

We love Borchardt! The teachers and staff are overwhelmingly friendly. My son comes home every day excited about all the new things he has learned and talks about how much he likes his teacher and friends there. It's fantastic to see him enthused about his work. He's grasped so much in such a short period of time. I have no doubt it's because of the wonderful teachers there who care so much about him and all of the students there.

We've been part of this school for last 5 years. My children absolutely love their teachers and look forward to going to school everyday. This school has given my children solid foundation they need. Our Principal and the staff are very compassionate and their focus is always on well-being of our children. I have also meet so many wonderful parents here. Our family can't be any happier. It's really amazing to see my child transform from a shy kinder to a great confident leader within few years. Thanks Borchardt!

This was a fantastic school and I loved it; however, things do seem to be going down hill a bit. I also no longer feel that I am supported by the school's leadership. I am not sure what is going on and what has prompted the change. I just know that it is very sad. Up until now, I have had nothing but good things to say about the school. Now, it looks as if things have changed and not for the best.

Although this school had a high rating before, apparently it has gone down hill. Several parents have had several safety issues in regards to their children and the teacher, especially the principal, have not been responsive and also have shown lack of respect towards to the students and parents. Serious complaint should be filed with the district superintendent.

I totally agree with the words written by another parent regarding this school. I'm also very disappointed myself with this school.

RBE (Ruth Borchardt Elementary) is simply heaven on earth for our children and us. We have never come across teachers that are more caring, competent or enthusiastic than at RBE. The school staff are equally wonderful. Our children are blissfully happy! :)

I have been very happy with this school. We transfered here from PISD and the difference is night and day. This district and school appear far more committed to my child's adjustment and academic develoment than to their overall ranking and TAKS scores. It is good to see teachers who genuinely seem to be happy at work. We are staying; good riddens PISD.

While the school does have a good academic program, I did notice that there are fewer extra curricular activities compared with other elementary schools in the area. My son, who is in first grade has several friends in Riddle elementary and I often notice that my son has relatively less to talk about activities besides his academics with them.

Borchardt is an excellent school. I feel very lucky that both of my daughters get to go there. I hope they will be challenged more both inside and outside classrooms.
