My child loved J.R. He was in school there for 2 years. Great school, great teachers. My child was also an A honor roll student, both years. Don't complain, it could be worse, you could be in my shoes and my child now must attend Public School in Baton Rouge, Lousiana where they are a year behind the Texas schools academically.

Great school, great students, excellent academic focus. This is a child centered campus. They really care about parents and children.

I work here and love it. Every person working on campus has such passion for the education of the students. We are recognized from the state and we worked very hard for that status. Students truly are getting an awesome education. Soar Eagles!

My child has been at JR the last two years and she loves it. The teachers work together to make sure all students are getting a quality education. I am very impressed with the art and music program and all activities created for the students.

Academic programs for gifted children is zero. They fall through the cracks here. My child is bored and is an A honor roll student. He is being left behind because of other students that cannot comprehend the studies and my child is not the only one there are others. But this school is great if your child is average like I was growing up but it is not the right one for you if your child is gifted or is in need of a challenge. Very little outdoor recreation in any of the Texas schools. Kids need time outside to refresh their minds and bodies. Not much parent involvement. Very few parents are supporting their kids in sports events or activities.

J/R is an excellent environment for learning. Staff works together by teams, so you get the best ideas for that grade. They involve the entire school on motivating for excellent TAKS scores. The extra classes (music,art,etc.) are enjoyable for the children. The only drawback that I feel is the handwriting curriculim. They use the d'nealian style. This style is to help the child move easier into cursive, however the letters look slightly different from what is printed in their books and with everything that they read. My daughter was confused when reading because the k's do not look like the ones that she has to write. My daughter loves the school and staff. I would definately recommend this elementary school over any other elementary nearby. GO Eagles!
