Handles bullying effectively: Strongly disagree

There have been several cases of bullying at Travis and Torres has done nothing to address the issue. He has only tried to cover the situation up. You only need look at the newspaper reports that came out about several students being assaulted at the school to know that something is broken here & it needs to be fixed!

Supports LD students: Strongly disagree

The school failed to submit my child's IEP to the teachers well into 6 weeks of the school year. I spoke with Chandler who assured me it would be taken care of and she did not follow through. My child was deprived of federally protected accommodations because of this schools failure to follow correct procedure.

Effective school leaders: Strongly disagree

Torres is ineffective as a principal and leader. He fails to address the real issues at the heart of the school and anyone that disagrees with him he will retaliate against.

The current principal, Michael Torres needs to be removed from his position. Torres is more concerned with covering up the truth about the bullying situations going on at the school than he is about protecting the students. No child should have to be afraid to attend school. It is the job of the administrators and teachers to see that the students receive a good education in a safe environment. Torres has not even come close to addressing this situation, much less correcting it, in the few years he has been principal. He has no follow through with discipline concerning the students. He also does not provide the structure that is needed to turn this school around before it is known as another slum school.

My granddaughter is attending Travis this year after transferring from San Antonio. She has had some medical problems and has been treated wonderfully by all of the staff. I am very impressed with the individual attention that she has recieved.

I really did not like the principal Mr. Scott Norris, he seemed flaky. On the three occasions I had to meet with him he seemed to have his mind on other things other than the problem with my child. The rest of the staff was as helpful as they could be.

Travis Middle School is a great school. This is my granddaughter s first year to attend and we are very impressed with the individual attention, curriculum and attitude of all staff members.

I really don 't like the school because of all the underachievers. I can't walk through the halls without having the fear of getting beat up.
