I have 2 children that will be attending TM Clark for their second year this fall. First, let me say that I loved both of their teachers and was very happy with them. There is no art program or science lab "specials;" they have PE, library and music. Their gifted and talented program consists of an hour long meeting after school every other month - and sometimes not even that. Unfortunately, parental involvement is VERY low. Big events planned by the struggling PTA are pooly attended, and involvement in the classrooms is also very low. The pick-up/ drop-off procedure is very chaotic and very unsafe. Instead of having a "no idle zone" in front of the school, parents are instructed to idle in front of the school in a long line until they get to the front and their child is walked to their vehicle. No extra-curriculars except choir. Very dissapointing.
I am disappointed that there are no undated reviews for T.M. Clark. Lately I haven t been impressed with the school and I feel that some of these reviews are old. A lot could have changed, since then. I wish I could have read more about all the teachers (grades 1st - 4th). I wish there was more in reference to which teacher sticks out the most and goes beyond to help their students learn. And which teachers really don t make an effort, because we all know there are some teachers out there that really do not have any interest in going that extra mile and pushing their students. I also would like to state an opinion about the V.P. for the school. In my opinion I feel that the V.P. is ready to retire, I say this only because this individual gives off an impression of not being a friendly and pleasant person. Most of the time, the V.P. can be a bit rude and standoffish. Sorry for saying this, but other parents say this. Am only addressing this, so this person can realize how they are being toward the others and parents.
My daughter is still attending TM Clark. We have been amazed at the the quality of teachers in this school. The best being Mrs. Felt. Mr. Rister the princapal always knows what is going on. Once my daycare did not pick up my daughter and Mr. Rister called to let me know and then made sure that she was not upset. I love this school.
My son has attended Clark Elementary since Kinder and we have had positive experiences. They school offers a gifted and talented program for the kids. They can test for this program in Kinder and remain in the program until graduation if the keep their grades up. There are not any sports programs available at this school. Those program do not begin until middle school. The children do attend music and art classes three times a week. There are many parents who are involved at the school. Many of the parents are home room moms and dads and substitute occasionally. There are regular PTO meetings. The children go on field trips and participate in the school musicals. They have bike rodeos, spelling bees, and they celebrate 'Old Texas Days.' The teachers are very kind and informative. We have enjoyed this school and it's staff immensely.
We love this school. Everyone I have met from T.M. Clark has only wanted the best for my son. The teachers are awesome and the principal and vice principal really listen.
Would definitely recommend this school for your elementary school age child. I looked at the salary averages for the teachers, who should be rewarded much better than they are. The involvement of parents and volunteers are also very impressive. When I take my daughter to school each day, I feel that there is an overall community support system for each other and our children.
