This is a horrible school that has a major problem with bullying. My son was bullied for years until I decided to home school. The principals I have dealt with are rude & uncaring. We did the appropriate thing by going & reporting it, instead of my son fighting back. When we reported it we were asked what he did to make them pick on him. That was their answer, to blame the one being bullied. I know this is a nationwide problem & maybe staff like what works in Quitman are the reason. The so called "great" PTO consists of about 5 moms who donot want to include anyone else.
I have found that this school does not provide adequate learning options for special needs children. Both superintendent and principal are rude and lack basic professional attitude.
I have been very pleased with the TAKS test results from the Quitman Elementary School, and very pleased with the teaching faculty. I have been disappointed in the administration.
The school is an excellent school, the faculty and staff really care about the students. They have an A-1 PTO, In the community, they are big on Pee Wee Football, Soccer, Softball, Baseball, basketball,Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H programs. Super Physical Education program with organized skating, hockey, fishing, Jump-a-thon, read-a-thons, School Choir, School Band(6th).
