Ovilla Christian School is a college preparatory school in rural Ellis county. Ovilla Christian has high standards, excellent teachers and great kids. Ovilla has an outstanding sports and fine arts program. Ovilla consistently wins awards in sports, fine arts and academic meets. My children have attended OCS for 11 years. We love the environment, small classes, teachers who actually know your child's name and are willing to partner with you to meet the needs of your child. Ovilla Christian school is academically strong with National Merit finalists, and students attending nationally ranked colleges all over the country. Ovilla Christian School would be a clear choice for a family looking for high academic standards, strong sports and fine arts programs, and a Christian atmosphere.

OCS is an amazing school. When I ask the kids why they like going there they will say "It feels like family". The teachers, the administration, pastors--everyone really cares about the students, educational standards, spiritual emphasis and overall wellbeing of the kids. I feel blessed that my children can attend. Both of my children (7th grade and 11th grade) are receiving an excellent education and their scores on standardized tests show just that. OCS is a gem in the middle of Ellis County .

My school is unique among all the educational institutions in the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex. Accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International, Ovilla Christian School received not the normal three or four commendations from the ACSI accrediting board but an extraordinary eight commendations!!! One of the eight was due to our Science Department's strong commitment to God's Word as the ultimate authority in answering questions regarding origins. Promoting recent "special creation," literal six solar-day Creation Week, young Earth, global Genesis Flood and the true science that confirms God's Word as written, OCS is also committed to not letting our graduates be victims of Christian college apostasy or the evolutionary onslaught that awaits them on secular university campuses.

Love this school. They have a great new Headmaster in Dr. Richardson who balances academic rigor and pastoral care. I have two kids enrolled and a third will be here next year. There is nothing that compares in the area and I am truly grateful for the direction OCS is headed.

OCS is an excellent school. One of my sons has attended school at OCS since he was in K4. He loves it and we love it. Great teachers and staff, wonderful education. My younger son was attending a charter school and it was a nightmare, he was moved to OCS and is doing great! I would recommend OCS to anyone wanting an excellent education from an excellent school.

I have been thrilled with the spiritual and academic training that OCS has provided my children. Mrs. Weyand, the Administrator, has a deep passion about quality Christian education, and that has been our experience in my children's lives. The teachers and staff truly care about my children and have truly partnered with me to prepare my students for life. My hope is that the school would continue to grow and add additional classroom space and athletic fields for the secondary students. There is a great vision for OCS, so let's get behind it, and make it happen!!!

This is truly an outstanding school. When I first came to the school in 10th grade, I did not care about school or my grades, but that quicky changed. Now I strive to reach excellence in everything I do, including grades, sports, character, and my spiritual life. Ovilla Christian School has really changed my life, and I recommend it to any parent seeking a school that will academically challenge his or her child and help him/her to grow spiritually. Everything about this school builds character and ecourages excellence. Every one of the teachers and administration are so loving and care so much about the students. They encourage the students to try harder and reach for excellence, even in the little things. I am truly thankful to God for showing my parents this school for me. God has really used this school to touch and change many lives, including mine.

This is the 10th year that we have had children attending Ovilla Christian School. Overall, we have been exceptionally pleased each and every year. The godly character that they instill in each subject, through the teacher's lives and just general atmosphere is incredible. The teachers genuinely have shown a personal interest in each of our children. I feel quite informed of what is going on. God has truly blessed this school.

OCS is a very unique school with a small, family like feel. Most of the teachers are extremely qualified and even more importantly, really care about the students. OCS was a safe haven after my child has a rough experience in public school. The school sponsors mission trips for students. The dual credit program is great. I would especially like to commend Mrs. Marks who is an outstanding higher level math teacher, Mr. and Mr. Hayes who was is the best Bible teacher ever!

Our family loves OCS! This is our 5th year there, and we could not be more pleased. The teachers and coaches are wonderful, and the curriculum is balanced. Having 2 boys, I appreciate hands on, active learning along with tradional. My kids love the fine arts program as well. They are also constantly being challenged with activities such as Math Olympics, Speech Meets, Art Fair, etc. Another thing we are grateful for is the partial scholarship program, which has enabled our kids to be a part of OCS. We have a great administrator; she truly loves our kids and their families. When my husband was in ICU following a bad accident, she was at the hospital the next day, along with our children's teachers. We are blessed to be a part of this school.

OCS is the best kept secret in Ellis County! The cost of private school education can be as high as $15,000/year for Dallas schools. OCS tuition is at least 50-75% less than those of comparable schools because it remains debt-free! It is solid academically and has a good sports program. No football, but great basketball and cross country state champs 4 years in a row! OCS integrates the Word of God into every aspect of learning. Students are not only taught the Bible, they are consistently challenged to ask questions, seek answers, and take ownership of why they believe what they believe. No school is perfect, but God led us to OCS and that makes it perfect for us.

OCS has been a great school academically for me. I highly enjoy the classes, love the teachers and love playing sports for the Lady Eagles.

OCS has been great for the last 3 years (2002-2005) We do wish they had football and cheerleading. They are very strong academically. Both of my kids (Grades 9 & 4) have scored very well on achievement tests. However, I haven't liked the yearly changes. They will offer a certain course one year, and then they will cancel it the next, then add it back the following year. They do, however, offer Dual Credit Classes for the HS kids. This is great! (if they continue to offer them!) The tuition is very reasonable. We have liked it and will continue to attend OCS.

Ovilla Christian School is a really great school. The teachers are outstanding and the leadership is of highest caliber. Christian character is modeled throughout. My child is very outgoing and a leader. She has been encouraged and her individuality embraced at OCS. You will really love it. The high school is fabulous! I cannot say enough good things about this school.

My son has been at OCS going on his fifth yr. He loves the school and the teachers. We have been very impressed overall with the quality of education he is receiving and the christian leadership from the entire staff/school. I can't imagine every sending him anywhere else.

Students, parents, and staff agree that OCS is an exceptional environment for Christian based learning. The ciriculum is good, the teachers are, overall, outstanding. However, the principle and administrator are a continued source of friction. There is no room for individuality or those gifted with 'type A' personalities. Administration calls this 'discipline' while parents call it 'stealing God given talents and personality traits'. If your child 'fits their mold', then you will enjoy the school. Should you have a child that is outgoing, has individual tastes, or is at all 'not a follower', save yourself the aggravation, frustration, and save your child from being stripped of their souls.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
