Canyon Creek Christian Academy

Concerning the preschool and elementary, CCCA is a first rate school. The elementary curriculum is definitely superior to other private schools that are much more expensive. My kids have been there 4 years and all the elementary school teachers are qualified and have lots of experience. They are getting a first rate curriculum and biblical education.

I have been connected with Canyon Creek for eleven years now. While I know that no school is perfect and there are always areas to improve on, I LOVE the direction the school is going in now! There are great teachers who are extremely qualified, passionate about their subject matter and passionate about the students in school and out of school. In the past eleven years, I have not seen a collection of teachers seeking to propel CCCA forward and to a higher level of excellence as I see now. I love this school and know that any student that is in attendance is going to be taken care of, loved, and prepared for life beyond the walls of CCCA.

Canyon Creek has gone through some changes recently, but as a parent who has been associated with the school for quite a while (10 years with 2 children in the school), I can already tell of the overall improvement in the quality of the school environment. The teaching staff is loving, well-qualified, and seem to truly love their jobs. The headmaster is very involved with the students, and concerned with their well being, even beyond their classroom performance. The new staff members, especially in the high school, are highly qualified, with a strong emphasis from master teachers in the English and Math areas. It is one of the only private Christian schools in the metroplex that has a specific one-on-one program for students with learning differences. I have read some of the negative reviews, and cannot understand how some of the things can be said, especially about the new hires being "uncertified". Being Master teachers seems pretty certified to me. Our experience has been nothing short of outstanding, and We look forward to our children graduating if things continue in the direction they are now.

Do not do your children the disservice of sending them to this school. The lack of accredited teachers, the lack of professionalism, and the lack of accountability to students and parents is quite apparent. Our children have continued to decrease in their abilities and have become increasingly frustrated with how middle and upper school teachers treat the students. Very few teachers have educational requirements met and very few are certified by a respectable, state approved agency.

After a large portion of the staff and students left CCCA last spring, the administration hired replacement teachers who are Uncertified. Parents were not fully advised that they would continue to be billed high tuition while the quality of teachers continued to decrease.

We have 2 children at CCCA (3 starting in the Fall) and we absolutely love the school, the teachers, the Christian environment. They have a a program called Discovery / Teach that helps children with learning challenges. My son has been in the program for a year, and I have seen HUGE improvements with his learning. Plus, the tuition is very reasonable compared to other schools. We are super blessed that we found CCCA.

Welcomed with open arms when we were searching for a safer Christian environment, away from the public herd mentality and the over crowded liberal biased district we live in. Our children's mental, spiritual, and physical well being is in our hands, as we are entrusted by God to lead and protect our children. We are thankful for options such as CCCA.

It's not a great school or a bad school. These are improvements that would make it great: 1. Teachers need to keep up with posting students' grades soon after assignment/quiz/test. It is hard to know if your student is doing poorly and to keep on top of things as a parent if the grades are not posted timely. 2. Communication with parents regarding school activities is poor, sometimes the only way I find out about something is from another parent. School desperately needs to have someone in charge of PR. 3. Teachers don't return homework/quizzes/tests so student can look at things missed and figure out what was wrong and correct way to do something. 4. Help for struggling students. Some students are too shy to ask for help. Maybe start a homework club, and pair struggling students with good students to help struggling students catch up and offer some kind of reward program to both students. Things that are good: Christian philosophy. Laptops in classroom. Clean social outlets for children through school activities. Kids who wouldn't qualify for sports in public school can play in this school.

A lot of people complain about tuition, but I'm one parent that won't. This is the bed you made when you decided to go to private school. We pay athletes millions of dollars and we won't pay our children's teachers? If you want good quality teachers, you need to pay them. Our children are our future.

Great School! My child has attended this school since K5 (8th grade). it has proven to be a great environment and enabled my student to thrive academically, socially and spiritually. The teachers are not only respected by the students but are loved. The relationship between the faculty, teachers and students are truly amazing. There may be bigger or better this or that, but what is most important to me is that my child loves to go to school, loves learning, is challenged and encouraged to do and be better, hates to miss school and most of all loves the Lord. I too highly recommend.

I love this school!!! The teachers are very involved with the children. Each teacher has a Mac at their desk and I receive e-mails regarding my child's performance daily. This is very important to me. My son is excited to go to school everyday. There is a strong sense of Christianity which sets the tone for the entire staff, students and parents alike. I highly recommend this school for any child.

We were in the younger portion of the school, Preschool, and I was constantly disappointed by the teachers. They were late, easily frustrated and overall disorganized.

Don't let the words Christian Academy influence your believeing that this is where you want to be. "Affordable" but only interested in the money. Tuition increases yearly. They do not enforce the philosophical doctrine associated with the name. The faciltiy is sub standard and lacks technology. Enrollment is considerably low and they WILL shut down soon. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, especially if you are new to the city.

The academic rigor at CCCA is not up to the standards of some of the better surrounding high schools, particularly in the math and science areas. The depth and breadth of the courses available were also significantly less than those offered by the area's public schools and left my child at a disadvantage when attending college. Most of my child's peers from Plano ISD had entered college with many AP credits and extensive coursework that was not an option at CCCA.

CCCA is an incredible school. The teachers are wonderful instructors and role models for the children. The classroom sizes are ideal to allow attention to each child. The Sports programs are top notch. Even the cafeteria food is great. We moved our daughter from Plano ISD knowing that private school is indeed an extra cost but do you ever get what you pay for. Public schools just don't measure up to the education one receives in a private academy like CCCA. It's great to know my child is not only getting a quality eduacation but also being taught Christian values both at home and at school.

Canyon Creek has been an overall wonderful exsperence for our two kids... our daughter is in 8th grade - going into 9th, and our son is in K4. They both love it and woulldnt dream of going to anyother school.

I have three kids in Canyon Creek. This is the best value for quality Christian education in North Dallas. With over 120 new students, new teachers and improved facilities, you really should check our Canyon Creek for your child's education. BTW, forgot to mention the TWO State titles in Volleyball and Football. Champions are born here at CCCA!

This is my first year at CCCA, and the high school environment does not prepare you for what life is like outside of a christian private school. The students in my class have been going here since they were really young, and for the most part, they are not very interested in getting to know any of the new students this year. The classes and teachers are fine, i just have a problem with how things are socially.

My child is in her 3rd year at CCCA, and I have continued to be frustrated by the lack of communication betweent the school and the parents. All they want from me is money -- and I'm tired of increased tuition. I see all the extra money going into improving high school programs and facilities, yet I have an elementary student who I am paying for. The new administration is too business and less and less ministry. We will not be re-enrolling.
