My two daughters, aged 6 and 7, attend Juan Seguin and have seen Kindergarten. My daughters enjoy the teachers who are very nice and helpful, and art class is their favorite. They also attend music class and gym and find these activities a welcome addition to their day. They would enjoy more fun event days, more technology in and out of the classroom, and more field trips. Parents looking to be involved in their children's education will find a willing and engaging environment at Juan Seguin. An improvement would be introducing children to more social issues, community and civic service during their elementary education, as these issues are rarely touched upon in the younger grades.
Most teachers in the school are really good and they care for the students. The problem is the principal. She is very unprofessional and rude to the staff and parents. The PTA members don't want to continue helping because the principal doesn't appreciate them. The staff is under a lot of pressure. Teachers can't be creative as the principal only wants them to do things her way regardless of it being the best for the children. Lots of potential in the school, but principal really needs to retire.
My 5 year old girl and 4 year old boy both attend this very nice school. The teachers are dedicated, caring and know the children by name. My daughter already reads well in Kinder and my pre-K boy loves to go to school every morning! He specially loves dance class. :)
I just moved my kids from another school within the district and so far very pleased with the level of involvement and dedication of the teachers. My kids love to be challenged with new ideas & new things to do. Both teachers have been awesome. They keep parents updated on a daily basis of the kids peformance and other important information.
