My experience at Briscoe Jr. High overall is an excellent one academically. I am able to voice any concerns and vice versa with all teachers through email (also in person/over phone) if needed. I would always get a quick response. The teachers are available for before school tutoring (which helps a lot). My son is attending the school for 7th and 8th grade and he love it. My only concern is with the head of boys major sports coach. He has been harassing my child since 7th grade, spewing comments like "He will never be good at football anyway." The school policy states that if your child is failing a class that he/she cannot participate in any major sports. My son was told he could not even try-out. His friends came to him and said they were failing but the coach let them try-out. Although my son was hurt, he is handling his dealings well with the coach to this day. It frustrates me as a parent to have to tell my child at this age he have to be the bigger man, ignore the coach use of profanity and just do as you're told. It saddens me that teachers can also play a role in how students come to feel about themselves. Overall an excellent school.

We love this school. The administration is always on top of everything, the teachers are caring and the children are (for the most part) well behaved. Discipline is definately enforced here which makes for a safe environment.

This is school is awesome. I love it because there are no bullies and students like me don't need to be called names because we take advanced courses.

This school has so much to offer young students. My son participated in the team leadership conference offered to 6th graders. This school also has numerous extracurricular activities such as band, ochestra, and jazz band.

Super job, teachers, administrators and staff of Briscoe Junior High. My son is now entering high school with a great attitude and enthusiasm to go into the highest level classes and into a good selection of extracurricular activities. Briscoe teachers have had a good balance of challenge and encouragement in the classroom. The band directors are awesome, challenging, fun and had award winning bands. When my son was hurt before basketball tryouts and so upset about loosing the chance to tryout, your coaches made sure he travelled with the team to keep the books. He was part of the team. Improvement is needed in keeping parents informed when work is missing. Parents can see low grades on papers when searching through backpacks, but there is no way to know if there is work missing. Help us immediately snuff out that bad habit. Thanks for all you have done for my son.

Briscoe Junior High is an excellent school with great sports, terrific band and choirs, high academic standards for those who demand it, and a generally favorable level of parent involvement. It allowed my son to explore his interests across the board before entering high school. The teachers were quite responsive overall.

This school is actually very great for children who like to be creative and aren't slackers. They newly added a Spanish II course, which I love! Also, if your child is advanced (for example, I am in 10th grade Geometry, but is only in 8th grade) they allow them to go to their sister school, Foster High School, to take any advanced classes! The teachers there love their students and I think they are very understanding. I also think that this school isn't big on bullies and is mostly a positive place for kids. Also, the councelors are very great with kids and Briscoe has a great 'kid witness-protection program' type thing called 'Crime Stoppers for Kids'! I highly recommend this school parents!
