The education that my child has received thus far has been outstanding! As an educator, I am quite concerned with my children getting a strong start. I highly admire this school for the student centered environment, care taken with each learner, parental involvement, activities offered, and the overall atmosphere. I am quite pleased with my daughter and the developments and academic growth she has made since enrolling.
Even though my husband and I are both Catholic, I did not automatically plan to send our children to Catholic school. I happened to enroll our son when he was four in the Pre K program because I was not happy with other alternatives. Once enrolled, we fell in love with the school, teachers and staff! It is like a family. We know our children are getting the best education in the best environment. Our son is now in second grade and our daughter is in Pre K 4. They are thriving in a safe, secure and loving environment. It is a sacrifice to attend but one we must make as parents because OLQP does not just work on their brains but also their hearts!
I did attended public schools as a child so I when my wife decided our kids would attend a private Catholic school, I had a few reservations. I can tell you now that I have no doubt that this is the best school for my children. I love the atmosphere at the school. The kids are so polite and sweet to each other. Junior high students act as mentors and role models for the preschool students. Parents are very involved, which you will not see as much in public school. The before and after-school daycare and summer camp are great for my wife and I since we are both working. I highly recommend the school. Jerry Mulholland, Lake Jackson, TX
Our Lady Queen of Peace Regional Catholic School in the Lake Jackson area has grades Pre-K 3 through 8th grade. This type of continuity is wonderful, time saving, and rare. They are rated in the 83rd percentile for the Stanford standardized test. Parents can be very involved. Extracurricular activities include sports, scouts, music lessons, and performing arts. A big plus is that Spanish begins in Pre K-3 and continues through 8th grade. OLQP is a special place where each child is valued and not just faceless name on an attendance list. Discipline is lovingly administered. This school is much more than a building-it is a community that practices Catholic principles. Do you know of any junior high students that hold the door for adults? I know quite a few and they are all at Queen of Peace.
The school is continually improving. We have been at this school since 1995. They do not do TAKS; they do SAT instead, which in our opinion is better. Environment Camp, Team Building Camp, Science Club, Chess Club, and sports such as boys and girls basketball, volleyball, and cheerleading. Music, Spanish, Religion, and Performing Arts. After school guitar lessons are offered and after/before school childcare. For the most part a sense of family and the teachers are becoming more consistently high quality. The Jr. High offers opportunity and a very low student to teacher ratio. Graduation ceremony for 8th graders.
